WingsAlways 486 Report post Posted April 15, 2015 It wouldn't matter if we finished 1st in the division we would still be the underdogs, that's just how it works. It's hip to hate the Red Wings now, sadly even among some of our own fans. 1 number9 reacted to this

gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted April 15, 2015 I'd love to be positive, and I still feel positively about this team long term, but I think they're still a bit too young and inexperienced to get the job done. They supported that line of thinking as the season went on. I also don't think the defense is nearly good enough. I feel good about Mrazek but I'm not expecting too much out of a rookie because frankly, I don't think it'd be fair to. But I want them to win, and if they can play anything like they were playing earlier in the season, I think they definitely can win this series, and maybe more. They have a lot of the talent, but they've got to get back to operating like they did earlier in the year when they were in "best case scenario" mode to make that happen at this point in time. It's possible, and I'm hopeful, but I can't ignore the fundamental problems this team still has right now on defense and the overall lack of experience. It's simple as that. 1 roboturner reacted to this

WingsAlways 486 Report post Posted April 15, 2015 I remember when Ozzy was never good enough, Hasek was a has-been, Yzerman was washed up with a bad knee, Fedorov was a money grubbing prima donna, Chelios was too old, same for Fetisov, Larionov was too frail and fragile, Shanahan was getting too soft, these new kids Zetterberg and Datsyuk weren't ever going to fill the shoes of the heroes before them. Man...those were the days. 4 krsmith17, number9, greenrebellion and 1 other reacted to this

I don't want to be negative for the sake of being negative, I just don't want to pretend that the team doesn't have issues when they pretty clearly do. I'm happy and excited and I'll be cheering them on like a diehard until the end, though I've accepted that the idea of us winning against Tampa is a long shot this year. Is that gray area? Aethernum 276 Report post Posted April 15, 2015 (edited) You can't win a playoff series in 2 games doofus Tampa in 8 Nope, we'll get to Game 11+1/2 and have infinity overtimes as both teams' players just start laying in front of the net to sleep, thereby blocking all shots. You heard it here first. Edited April 15, 2015 by Aethernum 1 55fan reacted to this

All teams have issues. But being negative and over emphasizing those issues is totally in right now. Why have rose colored glasses when you can have cool black colored ones? Personally I've chosen to hate on Brendan Smith. Don't take any of this personally Nope, we'll get to Game 11+1/2 and have infinity overtimes as both teams' players just start laying in front of the net to sleep, thereby blocking all shots. You heard it here first. LOL your knowledge of play off hockey is pathetic. They'll eventually go to the shootout and your block shot strategy will mean NOTHING 1 Aethernum reacted to this
matt198913 932 Report post Posted April 15, 2015 Just listening to the NHL network fawn all over Tampa who hasn't won a damn thing in 10 years, talking about their experience and their speed. Just amazing to me. When the Wings are down they are too old, when it's playoff time the Wings are young inexperienced, and too easy to play against. I understand they haven't set the world on fire lately, but this team is a 100 point team. Please believe that the Red Wings aren't a good hockey club. They will run right through you. 2 krsmith17 and WingsAlways reacted to this

I mean they just shut this team out 2 weeks ago. I'm not saying they are in any way the favorite, but cmon they deserve some respect.
wings7 62 Report post Posted April 15, 2015 Ironically it's on par with your "Tatar and Nyquist are 3rd line grinders" posts. True story. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I said they'd be fine on a third line. They are not grinders. DEFINITELY NOT GOING TO HIT A SOUL. More the point...You haven't forgotten. Must be a boring life you lead. Just lurking on here until you can say something not remotely funny.
kliq 3,755 Report post Posted April 15, 2015 My gut tells me TB is 6, but I think the Wings definitely have a strong chance. I think it may come down to Special Teams and goaltending. Lets hope Mrazek can use this opportunity to prove himself.
DickieDunn 2,571 Report post Posted April 15, 2015 Wings go to eleven. I hate warm beer. Some beer is better at room temperature and is served that way in Europe where crap like Busch Light isn't popular. Wings in 6. Filppula disappears, the Lightning D is a seive, and Mrazek wins the battle of the young goalies. 1 Hockeymom1960 reacted to this
RedWingsRox 614 Report post Posted April 15, 2015 TB in 5 or 6. Last year, it was pretty short series, in 5 and the team was playing with a lot more heart at the end of the season. This year, I don't sense it, they just don't have that drive or determination. Hope I'm wrong but just being realistic ... or 'negative' depending on how you see it. TheXym 2,606 Report post Posted April 15, 2015 Wings go to eleven. I hate warm beer. +1 for the Spinal Tap reference. As long as the Wings have the rock knob cranked to 11, and the suck knob all the way down and not vice versa, I can see the upset happening. Also kudos for the earlier Ric Flair reference. 1 KATIEBARTHEDOOR24 reacted to this

And no one ever said bush light is an actual beer. Glad I didn't disappoint. As far as the beer bit, mass produced American "beers" like Busch, Budweiser, Coors, etc. are not fit for consumption by anyone with anything remotely resembling a functional taste palate. There are so many great options out there these days. Big ups to Zeno's in State College, PA for the 25 taps and over 200 bottled beers they carried during my undergrad days in the early 90's. They also put the Wings on for me when espn2 carried them. Then again, doing 3 of their "around the world in 80 beers" passports probably gives you some kind of VIP status.
