I'd rather have him in than Anderson or Ferrarro. At least they have to be concerned with his shot defensively. Especially on the PP2.

No they don't. Babs was using him in the middle of the ice on the PP recently, AND he's got all of two point on the powerplay anyway. I'd rather have guys that don't score much, but do other things well than a guy who doesn't score much and doesn't nothing else well.

Despite the fact that he's clearly an excellent AHL player, Pulkkinen has not figured out how to translate that success to the NHL game yet. Until he does he's pretty much a non factor in every game he plays.

During a media scrum today, Filppula said "I feel sorry for the guy sitting next to Zetterberg in the locker room now".

That guy is Stephen Weiss.

I feel sorry for him too. But not because of who he sits next to.

Any clue what Filppula meant by that?

From what I understand he was just ribbing Zetterberg. Filppula used to sit by him, and it seemed like he was just clowning about Zetterberg being horrible to sit next to. Nothing serious.

I think the thing with Pulkkinen is that he hasn't shown an ability to handle the physical intensity really if we're being honest. He's been fine, but as someone mentioned, isn't great at winning those board battles. Thus, these become more important come playoff time as we all know. Ferraro has been decent, and Andersson has more size, so I guess that's why Teemu is scratched.

Although, I've been consistently annoyed with how Babs out Teemu in the slot on the PP. He really has no business being there, and should be out at the left point so they can just feed him one timers for a minute.

Maybe Fil meant the expectations that he had to live under. He was put next to Z on purpose. I remember years ago some teammates speculated Fil would have at least an A on his jersey when veterans retired. Babcock was always pushing him to take iniative on attack. I've wondered if Fil left Detroit because he didn't like the pressure. Okay, Holland didn't want to pay him what he asked but I think Fil used the high asking price as an undirect way of saying that he wanted to be elsewhere. He chose a good team and I doubt there's as much pressure on his shoulders as was in Detroit.

Take it with a grain of salt but, I've heard from a friend who knows a guy with an office in the Joe that Abby has a broken index and middle finger on his top hand and has pins in them right now.

Hopefully he's just misinformed but if that's true, it sounds pretty serious.... :/

In Tampa they're apparently beating the same drum Flip has heard his whole career. "SHOOT MORE!!!!"

He finished the season with 91 SOG. Jurco has more shots on goal then Flip and he only played 11 and a half minutes a night for 63 games. Whereas Flip played 19 minutes a night for 82 games, 3:23 of which is on the power play.

I always liked Flip but good god, he's been hearing this whole career and doing little about it.

Yes. I'm not saying Babcock shouldn't have pushed him 'cause that's his job. Fil seemed to me a shy guy who wanted to play his unaggressive brand of hockey and be left in peace. He was still quite succesful playing that way. He should understand that more is excepted from gifted youngsters or $5M\yr veterans in any teams.
