Smith in. Marchenko out for Game 3

over Marchenko (EDIT: Maybe?... He never said specifically Marchy was sitting but that's who it will probably be for)

Babcock was just interviewed by Stoney & Bill on 97.1

Also in a no brainer with Abby back it sounds like:

Tatar - Datsyuk - Helm

Abdelkader- Zetterberg - Nyquist

Marchenko really looked lost last game. No harm no foul bringing Smith back in. We've got to do something to wake our team up, and sticking with the same old thing isn't going to hack it.

I sure hope Brendan's ready. We need mistake free hockey.

There's a lot of harm bringing Smith back in, potentially. Turnovers are already a problem. And his pinching could really hurt us. I would rather they had called up Oullette.

Agreed. I sure hope he plays his very, very, best hockey.

As far as roster decisions in general, I try to think about the ones that are most likely to happen, and not the ones I'd personally most like to see. Barring a serious injury or two, Ouellet is playing for GR in the playoffs this year.

But I don't hate the idea in theory.

That Smith Zidlicky pair is way too risky man, if Smith pinches how the hell will Zidlicky cover a 2 on 1 Tampa has too much speed this could be a disaster waiting to happen, I wouldn't consider either of them good defensively, I hope I'm wrong we need this one.

if this is true game 3 is not going to end well for us... i had no hope anyway.

it does not matter how good of a coach Babcock is... we just don't have personnel to play any structure.

George Sipple @GeorgeSipple

Alexey Marchenko said he was told he won't play in Game 3 on Tuesday. #Wings

I don't know how legit the source is though.

Edit : Smith in.

Helene St. James @HeleneStJames

Mike Babcock says Brendan Smith back in for Red Wings-TBL Game 3 because "he can really skate and compete."

I didn't get to see most of game 2, but in game one Marchenko looked a bit out of place, and Tampa was having their way with our defensman in the corners. Smith can make some bonehead plays sometimes, but he definitely isn't afraid to take a hit to make a play, which was something we could have used in game 1. I hope the addition of Smith and Abdekader give us a little more presence in the greasy areas of the ice.

I agree we should have put in Ouellete. If were going to play dmen that are turnover machines and defensive liabilities we might as well play D who we can count on to play actual defence.

Noone we have on D can play offence (other than Kron, Zids) so we might as well just suit up 4 defensive Dmen.

Although, I just tried to make lines that would make sense and there arent any so theres also that point... :(

Kronwall - Dekeyser

Ericcson - Quincey

Oulette - Zidlicky

I really don't know....

A legit Dman would do wonders for this team. I really wish we had a potential top 2 guy coming up. Still pains me to see Parise and Suter in MIN haha

I will say this, Smith has shown in the past that he can be more physical then what I saw from Marchenko. That might help.

Plus it puts DeKeyser and Quincey back together. If they can regain mid-season form, then that's a real bonus.

Trying to stay positive here.

This is my take on it also. We need someone on the back end also to play physical, and I get the feeling that if Callahan is going to try and run someone, Smith isn't going to take any liberties. We could use a little push back, and to put Tampa on their rear ends.
