ECQF Game 4 GDT : Lightning 3 at Red Wings 2 (OT) - Series Tied 2-2

Eh, I'm betting something got a lot more aggravated in game 3. While I don't expect much from Z at this point given the nature of his issues, Datsyuk is still definitely capable of being much, much better than he looked last night.

I happen to know the extent of his leg injury from last year. I have a colleague who is in the orthopedic group that took care of him last year. Although I can't state the specifics, I'm not at all surprised that needs to take time off for his leg every so often. It's sort of a permanent thing (I don't know if surgery was an option, I just know what the diagnosis was). What sucks is, because it's the playoffs, he won't be able to give his leg another break. I believe this is why he struggled game 4. If we do win the series, he shud definitely be rested before heading into the next one. Then again, it's his decision. There's always cortisone shots ;).

Although I must point out that it may not be the same thing bothering him, could something else altogether. I believe he did have a shoulder issue in the beginning of the season.

And this is why I love Datsyuk and Z. They both seem to be hurting some, but they're out there, doing the best they can. Reminds me of Stevey in 2002.

Yeah, I don't know anything about Z, i think his treatment was done in a whole another state actually, not in Detroit or Ann Arbor. But I agree with you, they are troopers.

I still feel absolutely sick after this game.

I know. I can't stop thinking how unbelievably awesome I would feel all day today if we just held off for 6 more minutes. Back to back shutouts, 3-1 series lead and Tampa can't score at the Joe in 3 straight games. My god

Now imagine how the players feel....

Oh right, I bet your going to say they did it on purpose.

idk what you're insinuating... after the game my posts were basically saying its a devastating loss but I can't blame any particular players. They actually played one of the best games I've seen this year aside from the breakdowns that ended up in the net. It's not like Tampa woke up and just poured it on and we weren't able to play with them. Three heartbreaking mistakes

Wasn't Datsyuk out covering Johnsons line for all three goals against btw?

I know Glendening has been doing an amazing job against them but Datsyuk should be even better you'd think... but maybe it was just one of those things.

It felt a bit too good to be true. Like how I would imagine in my wildest dreams how this series would unfold pretty much. As long as this loss doesn't devastate morale, we should be fine. We completely dominated them defensively for pretty much two straight games, where they had an unlimited amount of power play time.

Yeah, it was a choke fest for sure. Hopefully they learn from this one. I remember when a 2 goal lead with 5 minutes left was pretty much a sure thing. Not in today's NHL.

Crazy idea: what about putting Z on the third line?

Heres how I see it. If Wings can win tomorrow we take the series in game 6 at home. But if we lose tomorrow, we will win game 6 and force a game 7. I like our chances if its all or nothing in game 7. So right now at least make sure you win game 6. Hopefully though they steal tomorrows game. And yes it does suck being tied 2-2 right now. Remember when we were up against Hawks 3-1 and still lost the series? This team has to do things the hardest way possible for some strange reason.

He would probably do very well. But our 2nd line (Sheahan) wouldn't be good enough. Someone already mentioned this earlier; Z is definitely not playing his best but even his screw ups have been less of a liability than what most of the others on the roster have done thus far.

But Z on a third line once he's a bit older will probably work out well. Steve Yzerman did it and managed to score 18 goals in his last season I believe.

Did anyone else watch the "Mic'd up" video on NHL.com from yesterdays game? They had Jonathan Ericsson mic'd up and you can hear him go up to glendenning and say "Glenny, you dont have to protect me"

Found it amusing.

Glendening is the biggest factor for us right now. It's unbelievable how much of an impact this man has

It's funny people actually believe this.

He's only the biggest factor because the rest of the team has looked like hot garbage most of the time. Datsyuk looks lost, Z looks old, Helm has been a non-factor, Nyquist has one goal and not much else to show, Tatar has been pretty much a missing person and the defense, well lets not even get started on them.

The loss was not because of Glendening getting injured. They would have lost had he not. They lost because they spent just about every moment after they scored the second goal on their heels. Tampa controlled play and they scored 3 straight goals. It's that simple.

I'm sorry but that is absolute b*******. That's fine of you to have your opinion but you are completely wrong. That was by far the Wings' best game of the playoffs. They controlled the entire game up until making 3 mistakes within 7 minutes which unfortunately cost them the game.

Anyone would have thought by your spouting that the Wings had been swept. Let's not forget its 2-2 in a series that most ofd the media thought we wouldn't have a chance to even compete in. And Glendening has been huge. That 4th line has been excellent. There's a reason why the Johnson line has been shut down in this series, and you saw it right there in game 4. Mrazek has been superb, aside from game 2. Datsyuk has looked lost?? Really. Aside from Glendening he's been our best player in this series. Were you even watching game 1?

Helm has been a non-factor? And how about you actually look at the fact that Glendening is a really good solid player instead of the fact that you think he looks better than you think he asctyually is because in your opinion, the rest of the team is s***? Well if the rest of the team is s***, then why aren't we outside of the playoffs looking in, or staring at an imminent defeat in the first round like so many predicted?

continue to share your opinion sir, and that is fine. But when you ignore the obvious and continue to bash the team that we all know and love, then i will disagree with you. Just because we don't ice a lineup made of all stars anymore and future hall of famers, doesn't mean we can't sit here and respect the effort and hard work this team has put in to make it this far.

I was talking about Games 2-4 for Datsyuk. And if you think Detroit controlled the game after the 2nd goal they scored you were watching a completely different game. I saw a Tampa team on full court press taking shots with reckless abandon on Mrazek. Detroit was on its heels for almost half the game, they went into curse control and that's why they lost.

But I will agree with one thing: Mrazek has pretty much run Howard out of town so far. He has been why this series is 2-2 not 4-0. If the Wings had any chance at the cup he would be the only choice for Conn Symthe.

You must have been watching a different game. After the second goal, Tampa looked absolutely lost. They were barely getting any offensive pressure and started getting chippy after whistles. Tampa only managed 6 shots in the 3rd period.

I disagree with your assessment of Datsyuk. He hasn't looked lost at all IMO. He's just been so busy shutting down Stamkos that you don't see him doing much offensively (except for game 1 and game 5).
