Defenseman Aaron Ekblad of the Florida Panthers and forwards Johnny Gaudreau of the Calgary Flames and Mark Stone of the Ottawa Senators are the three finalists for the 2014-15 Calder Memorial Trophy, awarded "to the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition," the National Hockey League announced today.

Members of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association submitted ballots for the Calder Trophy at the conclusion of the regular season, with the top three vote-getters designated as finalists. The winner will be announced Wednesday, June 24, during the 2015 NHL Awards from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

No Forsberg :unhappy: :sadlike:

Guy came out like a rocket but also slowed down as quickly sadly :(

I think Ekblad wins it because of how tough it is to be a defenseman in this league and what he ddid in his first year is nothing short of spectacular.

btw. you guys are going to win tonight and it will be the last game without Weber !

If gaudreau wins, its turned into nothing more than points.

Just like the Norris.

I disagree. Have you seen him play much? He defines the word "dynamic".

He's only 150lbs and rarely ever gets hit. NEVER has his head down and always keeps you on the edge of your seat when he's on the ice.

He's a special player.

(Ekblad will win and deservedly so, but Gaudreau is not that far behind.)

I have seen him play, not too Mich, but quite a bit.

And I could see him winning it and it wouldn't bother me, I just think ekblad jumping in and being a solid #1dman is more impressive.

To me, it is a lot more impressive, but that doesn't mean I don't think Johnny hockey doesnt deserve it...

For sure and I agree with you. What Ekblad is doing at his age is so exceptional.

Quite possibly the best group of rookies the NHL has had in awhile. All 3 guys are deserving of winning and you could make a case for any of them. I think Gaudreau deserves it, but Ekblad will be the best player out of them in the future.

Ekblad is from Windsor so can we hope he comes home when hes a UFA? :scared:
