ECQF Game 6 GDT : Lightning 5 at Red Wings 2 - Series Tied 3-3

Me too, I thought the wings would lose in 5 before the series...but it's unfortunate now if we lose this series, because we should have been up 3-1 in this series and who knows what might have happened? I want a Detroit vs Montreal series...

So should the league. We need to get the calls in this next game, because we'd draw more ratings than TB vs. Mon

i'm talking about success in the playoffs? we've had none since Z took over lol no cups not even a conference final, i love Z and i'm not really trying to rag on him i'm not upset with him but as a REDWING captain I expect more, he hasn't stepped up when we needed him he didn't against chicago and he isn't now the two years when we had a slight chance at the cup

I'm calling a game 7 win and I'm also calling a game 7 Zetterberg goal to shut some people up here. With the Zetterberg goal he'll continue his franchise record of having a goal in every single playoff series played by a player. (11 years straight in playofs, 20+ series played by him). And we'll be heading to Montreal next.

Here's to optimism, loyalty, and fandom.

Assuming the Wings will win in Tampa may be a false premise. I do wish they had shown up the first period. I have a feeling I will have all summer to wish that, among other things.

Assuming the Wings will get their ass kicked in Tampa is also a false premise. I also wish they would have shown up in the first period. Right now, both teams have reason to be kicking themselves. If the Lightning would have put forward a better effort in the two shutout losses, they may have been able to beat the Wings in 5 games.

One thing is for sure, one of these teams will be kicking themselves on the golf course come Thursday morning. The question is, which team will it be?

Agreed on all accounts.

We dont really have any D-men in the system either. Sure, there's Ouellette, and Marchenko. Lets face it though, neither are a top 4 guy probably. That doesnt leave alot of hope.

If I'm Babcock, that's my play to the Wings FO... you want me back, you give me D-men. Give me speed and grit guys. Skill guys like Dats and Z are alright, but lets face it, it's time to strongly considering moving on, theyre well out of their prime, and shadows of their former selves, it really hurts to say that. You get the beauty play still every now and then, but they dont take over and dominate games anymore. It happens to all the great ones unfortunately. Also unfortuantely... we haven't been able to replace them yet. They still have roles, but we need the replacements. Tatar is showing promise. So did Nyquist, but he's fallen off as of late.

I know we like to think, we're the Red Wings, we have such a great roster. Outside of a few guys, it's not that special. It's the system that gets us to where we are, it's the talent and desire, and grit that wins in the playoffs, not necessarily the fancy schmancy skill guys.

M and Q looked great for rookies this year (M wasn't playoff ready). Top 4 is doable. Quellet could develop into a solid number 2 but it might take time.

This series has been good but the Wings losing game 7 wouldn't even bother me all that much (maybe). They have huge holes on offence and defense and Tampa just has way more skill and fire power than us, even if they play some uninspired hockey. I don't think Tampa has the guts to go to the finals. After game 2 Tampa has pretty much only been able to score after we make dumb mistakes, which is bound to happen with this roster. Need a great dman and great winger plus some growth from our younger players

It's because they won. If they hadn't, they wouldn't be saying that.

Thats of course is a factor, but it doesn't take away that they could have chose the easy way by calling for an suspension. It's a classy behavior. Give them credit where it is due.

(Yzerman..LIDSTROM) i was born into a generation of great captains so yeah i expect more from them.. when Stevie realized he lost it he retired so did Lidstrom I think Z has one more year in him and I hope he has the balls to say its over.. if we don't make a run this year or next year that contract will become a gaping hole along with Franzen and E.. which is why I said the less swedish we get the better

So wait a minute. You're blaming Z for our lack of success? You do realize that Lidstrom played with a stacked roster when he was captain right? And you do realize so did Yzerman? Yzerman played since the early 80s and the Red Wings had 0 success for almost 6+ years while he was Captain. Do you want to know when they did start having success in playoffs? When Yzerman got a platter full of Russian 5, Lidstrom, Lapointe, Murphy and the rest of the hall of famers on that list. Please, just stop trying to scape goat Zetterberg without real facts.

Superstars the Yzerman had when he won the cup: Federov, Shanahan, Lidstrom, Konstantinov, Lapointe, Murphy, Robataille, Hull

Superstars the Lidstrom had when he won as captain: CONN SMYTH winner Zetterberg. SELKE winner Datsyuk, FRANCHISE record breaker Franzen.

Lets see who Zetterberg has. A 36 year old Datsyuk. Who Tatar? Please Tatar is no where close to what Datsyuk or Zetterberg were when they were 25 years old

Mistakes will make or break game 7, just like every other game in this series. We are plenty capable of beating Tampa, that's abundantly clear at this point. But we are also far too capable of handing them opportunities on a silver platter. If we can minimize the defensive breakdowns and terrible line changes, we'll win. Mrazek has been good even in the losses when you really break it down. We're scoring goals. But we have to stop making so many big mistakes. Tampa is too talented not to capitalize on them.

Make mistakes: Lightning win. Minimize mistakes: Wings win. Simple as that.

Lapointe was a Hall of Famer? ;)

I love all the Zetterberg hate around here. Do people not realize he had MAJOR back surgery last year? I'm surprised he played as many games as he did. I fully expect him to be a force next year again

Why? Do 35 year old returning from back surgery usually dominate? He's done being a dominant player. What he does need is talent around him like Yzerman had late in his career. Problem is, we don't have that kind of talent around him. He's relied on to carry a team that he can't carry.

I'm not convinced he'll be a major force again, but it's pathetic how much people s*** on him. It's utterly and completely misguided.
