Kronwall suspended one game

Take it easy Harold, I was being a smartass. Not lobbying for Kindl. Shoot over to the Zidlicky bashing thread and you'll see I actually defended how the defense has played thus far in the series. I'm not at all upset with the current makeup of the blueline, and was speaking more to Kindl's weird trend of coming in off the bench this season and looking really good, only to wind up right back on the bench. Which says as much about him as it does about anyone else.

I just get a little frightened whenever anyone talks about Kindl being in the lineup. :P

Plus I think some people have said the things you did and actually meant them. It makes Kindl even more frustrating to me because he can come in and is good at getting shots through from the point but is so bad at everything else it's still not worth the tradeoff.

Regardless of the outcome of this hearing, it is now almost impossible to know what is and isn't a penalty and what does and doesn't warrant suspension in this league, bar obvious extremes. The situation has deteriorated badly following an initial improvement when Shanny first came into the NHL job. They could hire monkeys with a buzzer and wouldn't do much worse.

I still don't think the principal point of contact was the head and North-South hits typically don't garner suspensions. I'm guessing he just gets a fine and that's heavily weighted on the fact Kucherov is not injured.

Either way I got to update my website finally.

Disciplinary procedure at the NHL is so arbitrary, anything could happen. I can post two or three hits by Bolts worse than Kronner's last night, but there was no talk of suspension. It depends on who you are, perhaps, whether the hammer falls. Either way, if we can't win tomorrow, with or without Kronner, it matters litte.

Why not just outlaw hitting altogether? And instead of playing on ice just play on a bunch of pillows?

Then it'll be only a matter of time before pillow fighters are phased out of the game for skill players.... What is this world coming to???

It would be incredibly interesting to hear how one of these phone hearings actually goes down.

I wholeheartedly agree with that. I know it's unlikely it will happen, however the nhl is the most forthcoming in regards to suspensions as opposed to any other sport

For those sitting on pins and needles awaiting the verdict, here's a history of NHL suspensions to occupy your time, courtesy of downgoesbrown.

As for Kronwall, I'm a bit of a fan, but my first comment was "You left your feet. You were supposed to work on that."

Babcock: "I thought it was a good hit."

Babcock: "Kronner’s foot was on the ice when he made contact, elbow tucked in on the side. Went through him."

Babcock referenced hits by Callahan and Palat. "So I assume that good judgment will prevail and Kronner will be playing in Game 7."

To be real about it:

He hit him in the head/neck. Principal point of contact. And his feat went off a tiny bit. In all fairness that wasn't a clean hit by todays shi**y NHL rules. But because it's first offense I'm hoping it's nothing more than a fine. If they don't say much else about it then you can bet they did the Wings a bit of a favor. But that's definitely an no-no hit according to today's rules.

Hope to see Kronner in game 7.
