wings87 1,290 Report post Posted May 19, 2015 Some of the 2016 UFA's: E Staal, Stamkos, Kopitar, O'Reilly, Lucic, Seabrook, Yandle, Byfuglien, Kesler, Backus, Ladd, L. Eriksson, Voracek, Perron, E Johnson, L Schenn, B Sutter, Anisimov, Okposo, and several others. If only half of these guys get resigned it is still a great UFA class. try to get 1-2 Dmen and 1 big time forward. This year's class is soft, but I don't think it's wise to wait for those guys either. You never know who'll be available, when the time comes. 1 nyqvististhefuture reacted to this

That is why we should be trying to trade for some of these guys. Like I said, many play for teams without any cap space.

I agree, the FA market doesn't excite me at all. Trades should definitely be the priority.

He can stay in Anaheim. Edited May 19, 2015 by wings87

The big stars don't usually get to July 1st and I can't see any of the leaving as they been with the same team since the beginning or just fit now with them (kesler, voracek) ... And after what ny gave for yandle I'd say good chances he sticks Anyways like someone said you can't expect to sit and wait till 2016 July 1st or else when that date comes you'll be sorely dissapointed

He may not be able to stay there with their young guys improving. I imagine they'll need new contracts soonish..

Still pissed about the trade to Anaheim. I blame Holland but he gets the residual blame. I've wanted him on the Wings for a long time, but I don't think he's got any interest to play for the Wings. Don't know why. Edited May 19, 2015 by wings87
nyqvististhefuture 1,002 Report post Posted May 19, 2015 We need defensemen ... One just got available http://thehockeywriters.com/should-nhl-teams-start-being-worried-about-the-ncaa-factor/ Maybe he can look at what happened with dekeyser and how he might get a shot with the wings soon and be enticed at coming
DickieDunn 2,571 Report post Posted May 19, 2015 I understand that, but Green and Franson would be MUCH better than what we have now. Not unless you could trade for one, I'd be ok with that too. But who could you get for any combo we could offer? Weiss/Smith/Jurco/Sproul...Would that get you a top pair guy? If so who? If not, then who would get you one? They're dumpster fires defensively. I don't want a so-so defenseman just because he shoots right. Go big or go home.

I've wanted him on the Wings for a long time, but I don't think he's got any interest to play for the Wings. Don't know why. I just don't think the wings were willing to part with what Vancouver wanted..? I don't think it was Kesler behind it. Now, if he hits free agency and Holland offers him a competitive contract and he goes elsewhere, then I'd agree. But he's the kind of center the wings like to have. That'd be a great signing. amato 3,210 Report post Posted May 19, 2015 (edited) Looks like Ward could be heading to free agency based on MacLellan's comments.... Alex Prewitt @alex_prewitt MacLellan said a 1RW is "on the shopping list" and "is a priority...you'd like to have more stability there." 11:13 AM - 18 May 2015 The few games I watched, I though Ward looked great on the top line with those two guys. The caps do have a decent amount of cap space but a lot of free agents to sign.. so it doesn't look like they'll keep him. And with Franzen and Cole both likely done, Ward could be a good signing. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2015/05/19/caps-gm-shares-position-that-tops-his-ufa-shopping-list/ Edited May 19, 2015 by amato 2 nyqvististhefuture and PavelValerievichDatsyuk reacted to this
MasterPavel 115 Report post Posted May 19, 2015 Sign Reilly, draft Greenway, and make a trade to bolster the defense. That is something I think everyone could agree upon. It fills 3 needs along with staying out of the crazy FA bidding.

However when you get a guy that has good skill and can actually do more than goon it up hell yeah it would be a good idea to draft him. 1 wings87 reacted to this
amato 3,210 Report post Posted May 19, 2015 Would definitely not be opposed to drafting greenway. his final north American rank is 47th too (according to nhl.com). Seems like he has steal potential in the late second or early third. Can't help but wonder what moved him back though..? his mid season ranking was 22nd in NA. No I said his arrogance is quite understandable considering his height. Of course I have an affinity for big boys. Bigger is better right? That's why we're talking about Greenway. Are you saying you don't want us to draft big boys?
