I'm a betting man if you are? $50 to a charity of your choice if he gets 6 or more, or less than 5.5?

Considering I'm saying he's going to get in the $5.75-$6 mil range I'd have to be pretty #$%ing stupid to take that bet.

And he's not worth that much.

I think some team maybe Edmonton will be crazy enough to throw 7x7 at him, at that point I' rather offer sheet Hamilton with 8 x 8 but thats just me.

I'd throw that kind of money at Hamilton in a heartbeat.

A source with knowledge of the Hamilton situation has indicated to CSNNE.com that the Bruins are prepared to go all the way to $7 million a season to match any offer sheet coming the defenseman’s way.
....fairly reasonable compensation of just a first round pick, a second pick and a third round pick for any contract under $7.3 million....

Correct me if I'm wrong but after 7.3 mill, I believe it becomes 2 firsts, a second, and a third.

It sounds like Boston would consider not matching the offer sheet if it were above 7.3 mill per season.

If I was Boston I would prefer Edmonton's first overall 2 years in a row over Hamilton

Since this team needs some toughness and size, I truly believe that Kenny will sign Hayley Wickenheiser... He will get his ideal power forward

Because the Wings are so soft that even a women would toughen them up. Hardy Har.

Sports jokes that connect the perception of a weak athlete to a women are soooooooo funny.

You just don't get it. Because you're part of the PC police and also because you want hockey to become the same thing as women's soccer (which is significantly tougher than Men's soccer BTW). Admit it.

Offer sheets are tricky. At the deadline a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for Hamilton would have been a steal. An additional 1st makes it a little pricey, but it isn't a negotiation. I think I would still do it because the luxury of being able to package a defenseman/prospect for a forward and/or picks would still be present.

Well, she would prolly play bigger than Francine.

Another team cannot sign a player for 8 years, that's only if they sign with their original team. Also, the Wings would have to go to over $9 mil a year to be able to have the required picks

Thanks god I always forget that stupid rule.

Personally I think some team will offer sheet him but man of it's Edmonton the two first rounders could be costly for them.

Even with McDavid and Nurse in the team they aren't ready for the playoffs action this season in a few years the all be the new Hawks

RE: Mike Green.. CSN Washington seems to think, The 29-year old Green is could get at least the same term and money as his previous deal three-years at $18.25 million.

Would you do it?

Personally, I'd love to have green on a two or three year deal. Would hope for closer to 5 mill per year but don't expect him to sign that low with the lack of competition in free agency..

I wouldn't. I'm not that high on Green. I don't think he's worth close to that. In my opinion we should be going hard after Franson, and I f we don't land him, there's not a single other name out there that interest me. Go with the kids...

Completely agree. Not to mention the guy hasn't played in a full season since 2008 playing 70, 72, 35, 32, 49, 75, 68 in the last 7 seasons. This guy is trending downwards, and has a Weiss/Lecavalier/Clarkson situation written all over him.

Ehrhoff would also be an interesting choice for the right price.

But if Franson becomes too expensive Wings should try to trade a few prospects to get a better draft position and go for Werenski.

Green was the 3 defenseman on Washington and is very one dimensional let someone else overpay for him there is also his scary injury history .

Green was not the 3rd defenseman for the Capitals. Their top four were Carlson, Alzner, Niskanen, and Orpik. That's why Washington isn't that interested in keeping him around. He's a 6 million dollar third pairing guy.

I think if Holland landed either one of Green or Franson, it would be about the same impact, meaning I think one of those two are first on Holland's list. But, could be similar to last year where no big name UFA wants to come here. We may not get either of them. Let's look at secondary guys that could help the D out if they don't land the top 2 on the list. (of course I am just assuming that those two are tops on his list.)

Paul Martin

Chritian Ehrhoff

Zbynek Michalek

François Beauchemin

Johnny Oduya

Barrett Jackman

Tim Gleason

Just to name a few. Plenty of options to change the D with experience, or would you rather go with Kindl and the kids if Green or Franson fail to come here?
