That's a good steal for the avs

If he re-signs, absolutely.especially if they do end up getting rid of O'Reilly, they get someome in the same realm production wise, for 3-4mill less.

Yeah. Someone will give him at least 7 per year though of he hits ufa. I think he'll end up worth it eventually but it is a big gamble, no doubt.

For the first two/three years, I could see it being a bit of a hindrance unless his production increases a bit.

But its seeming like the league is going to be putting a higher monetary value on 2way guys.

My thoughts exactly. Although I do think he has the potential to be a 70-80 point guy while being solid two-way. I'd love for the wings to get him, he's exactly the type of center you want (assuming his production increases). His ridiculous contract demands aside anyway.. ha.

If we could flip weiss without bringing back any salary, and he'd sign for around 6 million, I'd be down with it.

It'd be a risk and a half on the of chance that he's hit his ceiling, but I think hell be good for around 60points.

Article on bleacher report today about mike green is going to test the market. Come on right shot top pair d-man for cheap.

Detroit is interested and by all accounts the best of the crop of teams who have shown interest so far (Detroit, Calgary, Colorado, Edmonton, Carolina).

The only hesitation I have at bringing on a guy like O'Reilly, at almost any reasonable salary, is the fact that his dad is his agent...and by all accounts a total dickhead.

I wonder what it would take to get him in the first place to be able to try to work something out with his dadgent

I also read somewhere that it's "not about the money" & where he signs depends more about the quality of team he could sign to and what role he would get on said team. He wants top minutes, more power play time, etc.. something the wings could obviously give him based on the state of the defense. I think all of that points to him being signed by the wings, assuming he means it when he says "it's not about the money" & signs at a decent value. I would love to sign green at say 3 years, 12 million. But I expect him to get more. He'll certainly get better offers from teams like the oilers.

If Carl Soderbergs getting something like that, Mean Mlke Green is going to be getting at least 6.5 mil. 3 yr 12 mil is a pipe dream. It will be a 6 or 7 at 6.5 is my guess and at that point, for a player who was relegated to a third pair (albeit having his best statistical season in years) and has not played more than 72 games in 6 years. Pass

You can't really compare the two players. But yes, 12M per/3 years for Green is a pipe dream. But it won't be 6.5M at 6 or 7 either.

I say Green signs for 5.5 for 6 or 7, or 6M for 3 or 4.
