Him not accepting the Leafs deal of 4,75 for 5 years could turn out to be a costly mistake. Surprised wings couldn't beat that offer he would have been a nice second pairing guy with some much needed physicality. Otherwise every GM for a contending team would have cleared the decks for the guy. I would have traded B. Smith a month ago if I new that I could have Cody Franson for 3.3 at 2 years. Kronner-E Dekeyser-Green Quincey-Franson Yes please. Brendan can go turn the puck over for Toronto if Babs loves his compete level that much. Lotta guys ended up out of work this season driving prices down. Buffalo was also probably a good choice for him. In the 90s, teams would have kept him on the roster just because of what he did in 09. Guy's only 31. Now it's 4-6 players at 6M+ and a bunch of kids making 950k. Guys who are 29 - 31 are looking for jobs and having to take PTOs, a former top 4 pairing guy hitting waivers after 1 year of his contract (still 30 million are remaining) and not one blow me away UFA contract.
