Things you would like to see for 2015-16 Season

I'd like one of Franson, Erhoff or Green. Martin wouldn't be so bad either.

Upfront, I hope Franzen is back next year. If he's not, I'd like a big body replacement. Cole would be nice, but it sounds like he's questionable as well.

I think we need find a taker for Weiss at this point. If we were able to, it would open the door for adding a 2nd line Center or winger. Ribeiro and Vermette are sort of attractive, but no one looks ideal (Vermette will get overpaid and Ribeiro has off ice issues which tells me Holland wouldn't bite).

We should go with Howie and Mrazek as a tandem. If we can trade Howard at a point where his value is still high and after Mrazek has proven consistent, then that is something we need to take advantage if it allows some upgrade (either a high end Dman or Scorer). I think that is something that will take place at least after next year, though.

Upfront

Joel ward Justin williams Carl soderberg

Goalies if we trade howard

Guys I'd target via trade

I'd like to see the Wings use these "great" prospects that they supposedly have to get some real men that know the NHL and are guaranteed to play well for us.

Ya let's trade away larkin mantha athanasiou holmstrom bertuzzi for guys who will be ufa's in 3 years and then complain were the new leafs

No player is ever guaranteed. Injuries, chemistry and team system can all ruin players.

No s*** eh? Some people.

Then let's stop losing in the first round.

Genius. That's basically what I meant. I'll spell it out: "I suppose what I really want for next season is to not lose in the first round"

Can't help but wonder now if we had traded for Phaneuf for weiss/smith type deal that was reported that we'd be in the 2nd round today

I honestly doubt it would have made much of a difference. Our defense actually played pretty well this series. Even last night's ad hoc bunch. We didn't lose because our defense is crap. We lost because we blew a third period lead in a game we should have won, and couldn't score any goals in the last two that were close.

Ya I know and maybe not having Phaneuf longterm would be for the better but gotta think if we had him in game 4 he could of helped prevent one of late goals some how?

Who knows .... I'm just pissed off we lost cause I don't think tampa bay were anywhere near the better team .... We should send some guys to montreal and go around tyler johnson in an alley and then have luke glendening pop up from the shadows hahaha

Then right after johnson s***s himself glendening does damage to his hand :) cause we all know that's when those assholes won the series

Or if we had signed Strålman instead of Tampa this summer...

I'm not expecting too many changes, which I'm ok with. We have a number of guys who are RFA's we need to re-sign, and that will take us to the cap. I think people expecting big changes, other then a new coach, and some UFA signing in the off season will be disappointed.

Yes, I really wanted us to sign him. Would have been fairly inexpensive and an upgrade over several of our D-men.

Yep. Holland could surprise us, but I doubt it. Also don't want changes just for the sake of making changes either.

Guest Playmaker

Thornton > Zetterberg at center. I'd take him. Let Z play winger and have a less stressful season from here on out so he can last the whole season + playoffs.

Again, wishful thinking..

Joe Thornton? Over 35, making 7.5 million, epic playoff no show, can't handle the pressure, stripped of his captaincy, Joe Thornton? He'd be awesome. :scared:

These threads are entertaining to say the least. Let's get a number one defenseman. Let's get a top 6 winger, oh, but he has to be big and tough and score a ton. Let's trade the prospects, well all of them except the good ones. Get a new coach who's better than Babcock, and a more successful GM than Holland. Oh, and throw in a hot 22 year old who likes to swallow twice a day while you're at it.

First of all. Where is this "playoff no show" concept coming from? Is it from what you saw others posting here? Thornton has 100 points in 131 playoff games and he's been close to a point per game playoff player since 2005 except for last season where he only had 3 points in 7 games.

People need to stop reading into what some of the trolls on this website say and make their own informed conclusions by looking up stats and facts before speaking their minds.

Second of all. Just because Thornton had issues with the Sharks front office, we are to make a judgement of his ability to fit in and possibly contribute to this franchise? Yeah that makes a lot of sense. It amazes me how much people underestimate the Red Wings organization. They're an elite organization that grooms players into hard workers. We took Jordin Tootoo, a player everyone in the league hated and made decent use out of him while it lasted. We brought back alcoholic, drug abusing Darren McCarty for the 2008 season and got him another Stanley cup.

This is the Red Wings, not some joke of an organization.
