Players who might be available due to teams cap issues

The asking price on Sharp is obviously leaked out there to tell everyone that they only want serious offers. I mean, I could see him going for one of those three (a 1st, a top prospect or a young top 6 forward), but all 3? That is the most ridiculous asking price I've probably ever seen...seriously.

It's an asking price to get negotiations started nothing more or less, nobody will pay that much also keep in mind according to generalfanager the guy has a NTC so the number of teams Bowman can trade him too will be limited and I highly doubt, his prefered destinations would give up that much for him.

To bbe honest I'm really worried about an involvment of the Wings...here. Don't get me wrong he is a great player but I would really prefer a defenseman for that package (i.E. try to get into Hanifin, Werenski range on Friday).

I don't we really wanna go with aging vets at this point. Rentals are one thing, but Sharp would be an investment that quickly loses value.

And rumor is Chicago is asking a kings ransom for sharp, if they get anything close to what they're asking it'll be larceny.

I would do sharp for a fourth or fifth, and Andy's negotiating rights, but nothing more...

We can't give up youth for a mid 30s/declining winger.

Sharp is only signed for the next two years. He'll hit close to 25 goals for those two years plus is RH'd. If the asking price is reasonable then why not

BC the price will most likely be nowhere near reasonable, plus we've gotta retool and have success, so trading for two years of POSSIBLE 25 goal seasons is counterproductive.

Plus, he probably wouldn't hit 25 goals, he took a noticeable step back these last few years. Wed be better off with Franzen in the lineup, IMO.

Buy if the price is low enough that it wouldn't cost anything too important to the future, I'd agree it'd be a why not situation, but they're apparently asking for a 1st+ which I wouldn't even think about doing.

It's not

And we're the Detroit Red Wings. They are the Chicago Blackhawks. We're most likely one of their last choices to trade with.

Discussing ALL available players isn't *so* horrible, I mean... we all know about who we want first and foremost, but there's no harm in discussing players that might be slightly off the radar. It is a discussion board after all.

I mean, McBain just got thrown on the pile.

Completely agree, there is no harm in people discussing options. My point was just that people want a new D-man or two so badly, that they start to think that everyone out there is an upgrade (which isn't the case).

Jimmyemeryhunter - Sharp hasn't noticeably declined the last few years, he had a career year just a year ago (34 goals and 78 points). Other than that, I do agree with you. 25 goals is not a stretch for him, but certainly not a guarantee. Even if you could get him at a reasonable trading price (which doesn't seem possible at this point) - you still have to pay him $6M a year....which I think is a lot for what he's likely to bring.
