kipwinger 8,440 Report post Posted May 20, 2015 Wow, Duncan Keith played 49:51 minutes last night. I bet his dogs are barking today.
GMRwings1983 8,788 Report post Posted May 20, 2015 Games like this make me miss the days when I was unemployed and/or going to college. I'd stay up late watching this crap. Went to sleep last night with about two minutes left in the 3rd period. On a side note, I'm jealous the Blackhawks have this ability to win most of these long OT games. They seem to believe they will win, which is the opposite of the Wings' mindset during the 2000's. In any case, it will be hard for the Ducks to recover from a loss like this. I think Chicago takes this series. Wow, Duncan Keith played 49:51 minutes last night. I bet his dogs are barking today. I remember triple OT games in the past where guys like Zubov, Lidstrom or Pronger could log up to an hour of icetime.
kipwinger 8,440 Report post Posted May 20, 2015 I remember triple OT games in the past where guys like Zubov, Lidstrom or Pronger could log up to an hour of icetime. Yeah, the update I got this morning said "Keith nears 60 minutes", which was true. But it sort of lumps him in with guys who actually did log that much ice time. Side Note: Did you know that Sergei Zubov was a smoker? Imagine that.

You just don't hear about it. Maybe not so much as in the past. Guys like Mario Lemieux, Guy Lafleur and others used to smoke. Here's a good article on that from a few years back. http://www.si.com/nhl/2012/02/29/players-smokingcigarettesnhlhockey

amato 3,210 Report post Posted May 20, 2015 I've never seen anyone directly head-butt the puck into the net, anyone else? I don't think it's ever happened before haha made me laugh. And being in double OT made it that much funnier.. Shaw on his head-butt goal: "Maybe the Premier League's going to be scouting me."
GMRwings1983 8,788 Report post Posted May 20, 2015 I've never seen anyone directly head-butt the puck into the net, anyone else? What's sad is that Shaw and the Blackhawks were stupid enough to think it would count.
Rhah 195 Report post Posted May 20, 2015 Ducks had 71 hits on the Hawks last night. So there is that to hang their hat on, not to mention Hawks top 4 D should be completely gassed. I am hoping this loss isn't so deflating to Anaheim that they lose the next

kipwinger 8,440 Report post Posted May 20, 2015 Hits is the most absurdly kept statistic in the NHL. It's arbitrarily kept for everybody equally though. So it's mostly a wash. The home team tracks it. And they have an incentive to inflate the numbers for their own team. But each team plays the same number of home games (roughly), so it doesn't matter. Rhah 195 Report post Posted May 20, 2015 Hits is the most absurdly kept statistic in the NHL. The number isn't important. If you actually watched the 2 games, they have been slamming the Hawks almost every chance they get... I suppose visibly seeing a Duck smash a Hawk into the boards is just an absurdly viewed event.
