Dylan larkin #5 prospect out of top 50 on hockeysfuture

The Detroit Red Wings first round pick in 2014 was one of the top players in the NCAA this season not named Jack Eichel. Playing for his hometown team, the University of Michigan Wolverines, Dylan Larkin and Zach Hyman formed a formidable scoring duo, combining for 101 points between them, with Larkin scoring 15 goals and adding 32 assists in 35 games. His strengths include his skating and playmaking abilities, assets which came to the forefront during the 2015 World Junior Championship, where Larkin led the Americans in scoring with five goals in five games. Larkin suited up for the United States during the IIHF World Championship, but is still eligible to play up to three more seasons in the NCAA. It is likely, however, that he plays no more than one more season.

Don't know about andrei vasilevsky being number 2

Where's the link?

Hockey's Future still has the top 10 that's quite different:

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospect-rankings/

Or is a ranking of NCAA players?

Edit: found the link myself:

This kid is going to decide whether Babs stay or not ........ supposedly.

Yeah all that business sounds like horse s*** to me. I highly doubt a decorated coach is basing his decision on one players performance, Specifically a player who's never played in the NHL and isn't named Connor McDavid.

Larkin signing or not has nothing to do with babcock. Just because he signs doesn't mean he is in Detroit. The chance of him earning a top 4 C spot (Datsyuk, Z, Sheahan, Glendening, helm, AA, and Nosek are all already pros) is small. So he most likey is in GR for 1 or 2 years. Yes he should be good in a couple of years. A Future Kesler type C, which we need. But to think our HC is going/staying based on some prospect? That is very very thin......

He's getting 15 minutes a night on a team with legitimate NHL centermen (and eichel)

He may not be the best goal scorer, but his speed and playmaking abilities by far make up for that, and if babs sees enough promise in him, it definitely has some influence in his decision whether to stay or go.

He's brought up the who's going to replace datsyuk question a few times this offseason already, and if he thinks dylark can come in and eventually be a 60 point guy while keeping his defensive game as good as it is then he can rest a little easier about the future of this team..

I know his decision doesn't all come down to Dylan Larkin, but its going to be one of the deciding factors.

Agreed. Also, his lack of scoring mainly comes down to the situations he plays in. He isn't put in many offensive situations. But is trusted to be responsible and get time on the PK. Which, considering the level of talent he is playing with and against, sure is impressive.

Alot of people on hfboards are upset that dylark is over nylander, and that ehlers is ahead of nylander.

And by a lot of people I mean leafs fans.

Does anyone disagree with these rankings?

From their knowledge of the prospects around the league?

I definitely don't think vas should be number two, and I'm thinking they consider Mrazek graduated?

I also think bjorkstrand is too low.

They also have Bennett lower than I think he should be, but his injury is the cause of that.

What the hell has Nylander done aside from look smug and play like a *****?

He scored at a decent rate in the AHL.

And apparently he was good in the playoffs vs the griffs, but he's nowhere near the godsend that most Toronto fans claim he is...

Therrs nothing Toronto fans love more than disappointment.

Nylander is just the newest Leafs toy in 2 months the number 4 pick will be the saviour there.Still can't believe that the Leafs passed in Nick Ritchie
His dad was an NHL player so that means he's better than other prospects.

Can we please not call him Dylark. It sounds stupid.

If people stop calling him Dylark, we can't pose the following question:

"Who are the five best prospects of all time? Think about it. Dylark. Dylark. Dylark, Dylark, Dylark. Because he spits hot fire."

I don't think it's something we can afford to lose. (Also, I'm sure someone else has made this observation. Full credit to Dave Chappelle... then you.)
