I don't think there's much doubt that Blashill will be the next head coach of the Detroit Red Wings, but it may take a bit more time to hear an announcement. I doubt we'll hear anything this week, let alone today...

"There is the NHL combine and he has some other business to tend to," Blashill said in a phone interview about the Red Wings general manager, "so I don't expect anything here in the near future."

Asked if he expected a decision by the end of the week, Blashill said, "no."

I hope the "will he be coach, won't he be coach?" in Detroit drama didn't distract the Griffins from the playoffs. Seems odd they just quit scoring in the finals.

But, they are Little Wings. It's what we do. Hope that changes next season, regardless of who is behind the bench.

They stopped scoring because they ran into a goalie who, in 32 regular season AHL games this year, had a 1.88 and a .934 along with going 22-7-2. His stats are better in the playoffs. The Canucks are trying to move Eddie Lack to get this guy in the NHL for good next year. That's why they stopped scoring. Not Blashill forgetting how to coach or anyone being distracted.
