Ha ha, of course not. It was just such a big juicy soft ball I had to go for the fence. Couldn't resist. :-)

I just read he's supposedly expected to make "a legitimate push" in the preseason for a spot on the red wings.

I'll post a link soon.

Easy to see a legitimate push. And I trust holland and blash to make the call.

We don't rush kids we need to develop, but this is a young, high end talent who already has shown he can compete with the best. Might be nice to finally have a kid that starts dominating at the NHL level by 21 instead of just trying to break into the NHL at 21.

Hey man won't hear any arguments from me on that I'd love for us to have a kid and tearing the league up ... Just don't want us to rush into it that's all

Gotta think if larkin does make the team and pulkkinen and then Blashill gets jurco going instead of just being a checking guy a trade has to happen

Haven't looked at the roster but who else outside of helm could be gone? I'm sure weiss will be but I can't imagine anyone taking him on ... Maybe back to florida if we paying 1+ off his salary?

Can't see anyone leaving ... Scratch that maybe joakim anderssen for a pick on draft day type deal but that's about it

It would be very easy to move Weiss if they had to. There would definitely be suitors for him.

This kid is the nicest prospect we got, great news. But hold your horses, he should stay in GR and be groomed. He needs to spend alot of time in the gym doing squats and bench presses coupled with slow overeating. 172 pounds wont cut it, not even in the Ahl. Add 15-20 pounds of beef, 2 years of training and we have a a top center.

Glad he is begining his pro hockey career. Give him a nice taste of what it is like. But let's not go overboard. The step from amatuer hocey to pro hockey is huge. Mantha reminded us of that agian this year. Let him develop on his pace, not ours as fans. If he goes to GR and dominates, GREAT! If it takes him a season or 2 to develop, no problem.

I disagree. I think this is a special player we have and we have an opportunity to let him play a couple seasons on the same team as Pavel Datsyuk, much like Pav got to play with Stevie and Shanny. Let Larkin player and learn from Pav.

Spots on the Wings need to be earned or its a slap in the face to the guys like Athanasiou, Callahan, Ferraro, Pulkkinen etc.. who all had to prove they were NHL calibre players before even getting a sniff of the NHL team.

If Larkin comes in and blows them all away with his talent, then maybe he earns his spot quicker than they did, but nothing should be given to a prospect based on what he did in College/Juniors.

Lets see how he does in this upcoming playoff series, then lets see how much he improves between the playoffs and next seasons training camp. If all goes well then to that point maybe we can talk about him joining the Wings.

Will be my first live watch of the Griffins. Already allocated the time for it.

Why would this indicate a trade is happening? Holland isn't going to do anything big and we all know it. Look at the track record. This is just Larkin joining GR griffins not making the DRW roster yet. Blash will have a look at how he does in the playoffs and then MAYBE take him along when he moves up to Detroit if he likes what he sees. Id rather have Larkin tear up GR for a year though and be a callup for inevitable injuries.

There is always somebody. Look at the last 10 years and all those "unmovable" contracts. Every single one that a GM tried to move, always moved. Contracts far worst than that of Weiss.

My heart will literally break if we trade Helm :(

Like Lecavalier (with bolts and now with flyers), Richards (kings), Dipietro? There isn't always somebody. We might find a taker, but it will be difficult. I'm still guessing he'll be part of the team at the beginning of next year. Babs doghouse moved to Front Street - he might have a bit of a fresh start.

Good on Larkin! Will watch Saturday for sure. It feels a bit like bringing in a ringer, but since it's our side, I'm totally fine with it haha.

I don't trust the big trade coming part. I think it's a longshot for Larkin to make the roster next year to I doubt we'd count on him to replace one of our centers
