Dylan Larkin turning pro... will play for GR immediately

Like Lecavalier (with bolts and now with flyers), Richards (kings), Dipietro? There isn't always somebody. We might find a taker, but it will be difficult. I'm still guessing he'll be part of the team at the beginning of next year. Babs doghouse moved to Front Street - he might have a bit of a fresh start.

Good on Larkin! Will watch Saturday for sure. It feels a bit like bringing in a ringer, but since it's our side, I'm totally fine with it haha.

I don't trust the big trade coming part. I think it's a longshot for Larkin to make the roster next year to I doubt we'd count on him to replace one of our centers

Game is on sunday.

I agree about Larkin, but even more so as I mentioned a few posts ago, he needs a bigger frame if he's gonna be a top center. I'll add 1 year to your thinking.

Weiss has what 3 years left? Too lazy to check. 5 mil cap hit. VERY movable. Vinny had a very long contract with a very high cap hit, and was playing nowhere near what he was making. Dipietro doesn't count because he lived on IR. Richards has been regressing for a couple years now, and that was a bad contract from day one.

Weiss isn't some washed up has-been. He had bad luck with injuries at the start, and was unable to play his way into Babcock's system. Weiss would absolutely have value to some teams out there.

Strongly disagree with weiss being easy to move ... You can blame him doing nothing on injuries but then why would someone risk a 5 mill cap hit on a guys who been injured then? Team trades for him and he sucks it up then you lose 5 mill cap for the next 3 years

I hope I'm wrong though ... As for Lecavlier he was bought out not traded

I could've sworn I just read somewhere that he's now 6'1 195.

Edit: Also just read 6'0 178...

I feel you. But I watched the world championship, he is 170'ish, which is to be expected at his age. Needs time and a good strength coach, which GR has. Will be fine, but can't rush these things. Gotta let the kid grow physically and mentally.

That is why Vinny was brought up to begin with, because he wasn't traded lol.

Holland will have no problem getting rid of Weiss if he feels the need. Not saying we'll get much of anything for him outside of a salary dump. But there will always be a suitor for a guy like Weiss. Plenty of teams out there that are weak down the middle. No shortage of young teams that can use a veteran to come in and help out. Always a couple teams needing to take on salary in the summer to get above the cap.

My bad :)

Hope your right on weiss ... Just don't see it

Any teams you think would take him on ? ... Would of said Florida since he played there before but there a rising team and I highly doubt they'd take him back now

Sabres, Flames, Devils, Panthers, Habs, Yotes, Flyers just off the top of my head. Before laughing at the Habs, keep in mind they are very weak down the middle and he could be a good stop gap for them while they develop someone internally. But plenty of teams that can use some veteran center depth. His contract isn't idea, but it isn't outrageous either. And what's to say Holland can't retain 1-1.5 million for a better return? It is only 3 years remaining after all.

If the season starts with Weiss on the roster, injuries make teams desperate. Not to mention the fact that we can offload this contract and take on one another team does not want. There are always options!

In the end I do think Weiss gets a shot under a new coach. I only see him moved if Holland needs the cap space to make a bigger move.

That's Weiss alright

I lol'd

I just pulled out random examples. Vinny is very comparible now though. Both have 3 years left, Vinny's makes 4.5, Weiss 4.9. Similar stats in similar games played (V: 57gp, 20pts W:52gp, 25pts) Weiss is 3 years younger so that's in his favour, but his is a large caphit despite what you seem to suggest.

Other examples of not been able to find a suitor:

Wild with 30 year old Gilbert (4 mill. 1 year)

Leafs with 29 year old Grabovski (5.5 mill 3 years)

Lightning with 34 year old Prospal (3.5 mill, 3 years)

Anyway, this is off topic and we've talk about it before so I won't say anymore. I just think we'd need to retain salary or take on a bad contract (phanuef).

That's how eager I am, haha. Thanks for the heads up.

It's hard not to be excited about Larkin. Hope playing with Larkin and Bertuzzi and other guys that clearly have a consistently high compete level with rub off on Mantha.

Never once said it was anything but a large cap hit. I've simply been saying that it isn't a contract that is gonna handicap a team. 5 mil for just 3 years is manageable for a lot of teams.

Larkin gonna be paired with AA. Dat speed...

"Larkin also participated in the IIHF World Junior Championship earlier this season, where he tied for the tournament lead with five games in five games."

Swear I didn't write this
