Z and D for the C

What changes do you think we'll see with Blashill?

...and Q is NOT good. He was not worth a 1st round pick, and he is not worth the $4.25M. I take that back, in this market, he is, but not in the real world of non-inflated salaries. But whatever, he did get better as the season went on, but with the way our D played in the 2nd half, did he actually get better or did the others play down to him? We wouldn't miss him, and K is more offensive minded. IMO, having Franson, Green and Kindl in the starting 6 is better than having Q in there. That would also give you 3 pairs of dual role players, Kronner, Green and Kindl would be your O minded guys and Franson, Ericsson and Dekeyser would the D minded guys...perfect setup.

end of the streak.... barely making it with the best coach in hockey. I like Blashill but he isn't as good as babcock at this point in time. I expect a step back.

Whether Babcock is the sole reason we made the playoffs or if he's even the best coach in hockey is extremely debatable.

Secondly, I think it'd be good if the Wings ended the streak. I feel like the team wants to get into the playoffs more to extend the streak than to win series. If we miss the playoffs one year, the next year the team would be playing for themselves, not for a fast-aging era.

The only way missing the playoffs make sense is if we go all Buffalo with it. f*** that. I'm drunk again so pardon my f***ign ***** ass french, but jesus. We have the deepest prospect pool in the league. We are in a position where the team can compete, and we have the depth to now make trades to fill holes in the roster. Tanking a season gives us one potential instant high end player. Key word: POTENTIAL. The streak will mean that much more once we make a run again. Let Chicago be the next team to win 3 cups in 6 years. Let us be the team to win one again without ever missing the playoffs. THAT is something that would never be done again. Patt those mother ******* butss.

I hope we get to see Weiss step out of the doghouse and become that second line center everyone was hoping he would be. I wouldnt mind to see more physical players in the lineup. I do expect to see even more kids come up from GR.

Weiss playing more prevents more youth from playing, not helps it. Same with Franzen. Both need to go now and let the youth develop. Yes we need to get more physical which REQUIRES us to make trades. Don't expect Holland to make those moves however.......

It's not a strawman argument at all. I'm not suggesting you think he's dumb. I'm saying he's dumb. He turns the puck over , frequently blows his coverage, and was benched the first two games of the playoffs for playing the puck from the bench. His judgement is questionable, to say the least.

I'm not really sure why you're being contrary here. All I've said is that he needs to earn powerplay time, not be handed powerplay time. Seems like a truism.

Are you suggesting he should be used on the powerplay just because it seems like he'd be good there based on his skill set? Because that's a horrible way to run a team.

Nobody would argue that Jurco should replace Abby in the top six because he's faster and a better stickhandler. Nobody would suggest Gustavsson should start over Howard because he's bigger, more athletic, and is safer with the puck.

They actually have to play better, consistently, when they're called upon. To date, Brendan hasn't done that. Which is why Babs didn't trust him, why his icetime was reduced, and why his stats suffered. Not because he was being misutilized. If Smith gets an opportunity and runs with it, good. If not, too bad. He's not entitled to powerplay time just because he has more raw talent than somebody else.

I've watched a lot of games the last couple years, I understand people have different opinions, but I like the the Smith plays. Yes, he makes mistakes, but I like how he takes risks, and he's always stirring things up. I like to have a few players like Smith on a team, because he disrupts the opposition and keeps them on their toes. Just pair him up with a more responsible defensive partner, and things should be fine.

How many of those risks did he turn into points?

If you want to complain about players taking up spots and keeping youth from developing and playing... I'd be looking at the back end. Jakub Kindl comes to mind.

Wings have a lot of dead cap space. Franzen, Weiss, Kindl, Howard. 17 mil.

Really wouldn't consider Howard and Weiss dead cap space. Of course LGW has has useless members but they are still here so
