Nope, too busy

You must claim to be some kind of fan of both Osgood and Fedorov, maybe more Osgood since you voted for him. You didn't spell either name correctly. When your misspellings are pointed out, you don't have enough time to go edit the post and correct it. You do have enough time to reply to my post and tell me that you don't have enough time to edit. You're a confusing human.

I'm the realest fan on this site. And yes, Kris Osgood is my favorite player, that's why I voted for him. Edited by number9

This whole thread is classic number 9. He knows exactly what he's saying. The best part is that an actual debate broke out from this thread.

Scottie bauxman.

So what about next generation players, does anyone think any of them have a chance?

Nyquist/Tatar/danny d

Kronwall would have to get better as he aged, and unless we find an elite partner for him real quick that's probably not gonna happen.

At first I thought you were asking about destroying their names with stupidity.

It's a fair question, though. Kronner would need to play 58 minutes per game for the rest of his career, keeping his +/- at a cozy +83, as well as find that elite partner. While the guy is awesome, he isn't up there so far. The young guns don't seem to have the drive or intensity that is required to become one of the Demi-Gods with their shirts in the rafters. Maybe that's not even accurate, but there something missing from them..

Haha.

59 minutes/per game or its not even close...

But I agree. The kids don't seem as skilled or as driven, or anywhere near as impactful as hank and pav were when they first got here.

Mostly pav, the first time I saw him play I thought he'd be the best player in the NHL.

I was on the glass in 02' and he skated up the wing pulled the puck between his legs and made both defenseman and the center look like they didn't belong in the league...

Maybe I'm just over romanticizing the past, but the only one I have any feeling of possible greatness..

But I could see with Nyquist if he suddenly becomes a center scoring 28+goals, which isn't out of the question.

Z did it, but he just has that drive to want to be the best that I haven't really seen yet from Nyquist.

Nykwist is about the only one of the kids I can see reaching superstardom with the Wings. He's got some skill and looks like he wants to break out once in a while. Every one else is just coasting.

I think its weird if they haven't retired 91, why hasn't anyone here tried to wear it yet?

Put it in perspective. If you started playing with the Wings as a 21 or 22 year old would you feel comfortable wearing #91? Without being an established player it would take a lot of guts to try to have that number on your back in the Joe. Now, if John Tavares miraculously got traded here (just a scenario) then I can see him trying to wear the #91. Pretty sure he'd pull it off and be accepted as well.

But yea we haven't really gotten star players here since Datsyuk and Z came into the league. Both of whom pick other numbers. Franzen was #39 and when Hasek came back he just switched the digits to #93. Nothing else has really happened. Nyquist took #14 which belong to Shanny. Shanny was a pretty epic player in this organization as well.

It's too early to wonder why no one has worn #91 or #30. Personally I feel like any number in the 90s is an oddball number to pick, rarely do we see players go that high.

My vote is just Fedorov.

Fedorov is a first ballot HOF that was one of the best players in hockey (won the Hart Trophy) in the 90s. Osgood has the numbers and might get in the HOF, but he was never considered among the elite goalies in the league. I might have a different opinion if he won the Conn Smythe, had we won the 2009 Cup, but it is what it is.

There is no question that when Osgood was bad, he was really bad. But, at the end of the day he did what he needed to do and IMO did enough to warrant a HOF induction. What he lacked in skill set, he made up in accomplishments. Its too bad he didn't win game 7 in '09 as if he did this would not even me a conversation that needs to be had.

I respectfully disagree about Osgood getting into the HOF.

Me thinks he'll get in some time down the road when it's a 'slow' year, or others more deserving had gotten in - hell - you could argue if this years HOF inductee Phil Housley is worthy?

I have a feeling Housley will be used as precedent in tons of arguments for players getting into the HHOF.

Housley and Niedermayer are in, but Zubov isn't? Lindros isn't? etc.

I don't think Osgood should get into the HHOF for similar reasons that I think Housley shouldn't be in there. Osgood had a good long career and was an accumulator, but was never considered among the elite.
