Nhl declares war on Glendale after city council votes to terminate Coyotes lease, retaliates by suing them for 200 million.

This is going to end badly for someone.

Just move the team already. Geez.

Not someone. I can tell you exactly who ends badly for and its the fans. Sure there arent many in the desert but from what Ive seen those that are sure are passionate about the team. It figures that for years hearing about how the Coyotes are going to get moved and nothing happening that not a couple months after we move to Phoenix from Michigan the first step towards the team really going seems to have landed. I really dont want to drive to LA to see the Wings play once a year.

Ah, moved here just in time for summer, huh? My condolences.

It was nice having the 'yotes here when the Wings were in the WC, because you could see them twice a year. Now, with it only being once a year I'm having a hard time caring since I see them a couple times when I go back to MI for the holidays. Sucks for the fans, but this failed experiment has gone on for too long.

We actually moved out the beginning of the year. Funny thing was it was warmer in MI the day we left than it was the day we arrived in Phoenix. Heat hasnt been to bad. Doubt we will hate it more than 5 months if Michigan winter.

The good thing about Arizona is that you can always escape the brutal heat by driving north 90 minutes. Or enjoy some snow in winter and leave at the end of the day and go back to the Valley.

Anyway, the Coyotes saga is a mess. The only way this team can be saved is if they leave Glendale and move back downtown or to hatch a plan to share a new rink with the Sun Devils, who need to build one pretty soon anyway. The location doomed them from the start.

Lived in Mesa..I'll take the Michigan Winters anytime

This. Remind me again why I live in satan's armpit?

But I agree with moving them back to Central Phoenix. If they are to remain in the area, they *have* to be more centrally located.

Well the loyal fans there got screwed over bigtime by the NHL. I mean the guy who is responsible for putting a team there should be fired once they are on the move. That Vegas gamble - oh the irony - is the next stupid project.

How hard is it for the NHL to understand that hockey in the desert will never work ? Now loyal fans are going to lose their team, because the interest has never been there from enough people and the NHL front office was too cocky admitting their mistake.

Give Quebec back what has been stolen from them a long time ago,, let the Nordiques return and for once have another strong slamdunk market, i.e. another Winnipeg.

Completely agree. At what point is enough enough. Get that team out of there and give it to a city that actually cares. I do feel bad for the actual die-hards,

Exactly I really feel bad for the fans attached to the team they deserve so much better.

Also something that pisses me of us the BOG get some real owners there that would fire the ones responsible for the nearly unwatchable crap the NHL has become !

If it were up to me a young Don would run the league

The afternoon guys on 550 in Buffalo made a good point that either the Coyotes will probably stay in the Phoenix area for at least 1 more year, or end up in another Western city. They can't move to Quebec yet, because it would make 17 teams in the East and 13 in the West.

Quebec is far from a slam dunk market. What has changed from the 90's? Are they going to have more corporate and government support? Will they still insist focusing on how French they are and have problems getting English language coverage?

I'm not convinced the Jets have a long term future either. They have a small arena, and even with selling out almost every game they're only the 20th valued NHL franchise. If they don't win consistently, which was their major problem in Atlanta, the novelty of having "Our Jets" back will wear off and fans will stop spending the money on games.

Jets have a crazy fan base , they are sold out for years to come and like others have said there is nothing else in terms of pro sports teams in Winnipeg . Their owner is the second richest in the NHL after Samueli has sold his company for 37 billion, so they are loaded and have a ton of young talent , they just got rid of a malcontent in the locker room.

Jets haven't even qualified for revenue sharing because they've done too well . So that's a real franchise it took them only 2 years to not depend on the money of teams like Toronto, Detroit..

Quebec could play the pure lain card and go full French meaning they'd cover the whole French market and don't forget the instant rivalry with the Habs .

Still can't believe that Vegas is even in the discussion, when Quebec, Hamilton, Ontario and Seattle are begging for teams
