So it sounds like Bufffalo may buy him out. He had a rough season, but is only 25 years old, 6' 192 lbs, and shoots right. How are we on center depth? Does anyone know much about him? I just remember he came out as a rookie and looked pretty good and had a good seasons on a crap team in in 12/13 & 13/14.

He should be cheap ... I'd take him ... If anything if he rebounds and can get 40-55 pts and athanasiou etc.. Are ready after next season he'll be a trade asset and we can actually get something for a player for once rather than losing them off waivers

So yes

We have more centers than we know what to do with.. I'd pass.

True ... Not for keeping him longterm but I'd be ok with one season

There are reasons why a bad team like Buf with tons of cap space is looking to buy him out. D is completely foreign to him and his attitude sucks. Now attitudes can be fixed sometimes, but he would be a downgrade from the guys we currently have and can field.

I put him in the same category as Carl Soderberg. I'd take either of them if we didn't already have a 3rd line center. But since we've got 3 guys that can play in that role, I don't see the use. Neither Soderberg nor Hodgson are good enough to be second line centers (neither is Sheahan...yet), so what's the point?

Unless Kenny is thinking keeping Z and Dats together on the 1st line. Sheahan centers the 2nd line and Soderberg centers the 3rd line. Babs seemed to think Riley was capable of much more than he's shown. I think its more important to acquire a top 4 dman. We have enough average forwards.

Even then Helm or Weiss could be the third center.

Yeah who knows how Blash will change the lines. He did mention the other day that he will be using players a little bit differently than Babs did. I'm not sure what will happen with Weiss. The buyout window is at the end of the month. Or maybe Kenny trades him to a centre starved team like Arizona. Deal him for a draft pick and eat some salary. Or he stays and he thrives under Blash.

If they have to eat any part of the contract, I say just keep him one more year and see if he does play better under Blashill.

Yeah add me to the list that would not retain any salary on Weiss, but he would seem to fit well in Arizona, he's done well enough playing first line c in Florida.

Plus he could help shelter/tutor strome, if they choose him over hanifin.

Which they should, seeing as how they have no centers, and already have OEL, who plays the same side as hanifin

And I'd rather they promote any one of Larkin/athanasiou/even nosek over signing hodgson if they decide to keep z and pav together.

He's had points where he looked good, but he doesn't seen like he'd fit here.

Datsyuk

Sheahan

Larkin(aa/nosek)

Glendenning

Not too shabby...

I find it really hard to think if be trade weiss we won't be eating any of his salary ... Unless we take back a big contract

At this point I'd rather pay 1.5 per x4 yrs off his contract rather than have his contract on the hook for 6 yrs ... Something like that might entice a cap team like arizona to take him

I can't imagine Blashill will use weiss more than some of the kids he's been teaching and to be honest I'd rather he put his time into getting someone like jurco back on the right track again than weiss

I think we only have 3 years of Weiss remaining.

Even if they wanted to keep Pav and Z together without promoting any of the kids.

Datsyuk

Sheahan

Helm

Glendennnninnnng.

Still not too shabby.
