Arizona would likely want more than that considering they're almost guaranteed to have a future top D pairing of OEL - Hanifin. That's potentially one of the best in the league.

I don't think the Wings are completely in "win now" mode any longer. Doing something for the hell of it jeopardizes the movement of getting younger and building from within.

If Pavel Datysuk and Henrik Zetterberg are in their prime still, then I get maybe sacrificing the future for a run at another cup or two. I just don't believe that is in the Wings best interest. They have built up their prospect pool and now it's time to see if they can transition into another era of winning under Blashill.

I'd include Mantha in the Phaneuf trade if Tor includes JVR or in a similar type trade with another team. Otherwise trading a player that just 6 months ago seemed to be untouchable seems like an overreaction to 1 subpar year.

The start for a player that Arizona has no incentive in moving. You will overpay to get OEL, he's a bonaified 22 year old #1 Dman that scored 20 goals last year on the lowest scoring team.

My point being that Mantha should only be included in a trade for a top notch player. As for the trade it would potentially have to look something like this: Mantha,1st,Smith, Weiss (to offset Phaneufs contract, otherwise a through in) 3rd(next year) for Phaneuf, JVR, and a 5th. You're right Phaneuf isn't great, however he's the only way we're getting rid of Weiss.
