number9 3,297 Report post Posted June 24, 2015 http://www.nhlpa.com/news/nhlpa-nhl-announce-team-payroll-range-for-2015-16 Surprised this hasn't gone up yet. Cap raised to 71.4 million. Floor at 52.8 million. Not surprisingly who does this work out best for? The Hawks. Hate those guys. If they move one of Sharp or Bickell they'll likely be able to squeeze just under the cap with a pretty decent team again. Also, Ducks are apparently beneath the cap floor. They're gonna be scare good once they start spending money. Moment of silence for the cap not being 69 million.

frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted June 24, 2015 Personally I had hopes it would go up higher around $ 74 million, Wings are an original 6 team so it would have helped us longterm either by 1. unloading bad contracts and 2. offer-sheet some guys that are worth it. Wings_Toledo 233 Report post Posted June 24, 2015 (edited) Personally I had hopes it would go up higher around $ 74 million, Wings are an original 6 team so it would have helped us longterm either by 1. unloading bad contracts and 2. offer-sheet some guys that are worth it. Holland is not going to offer sheet anyone. It's just bad business. All it would do having the cap that high is allow teams like Chicago to hold on to their players. Also, it would actually decrease our chances of landing a top FA. BadgerBob 297 Report post Posted June 24, 2015 For Chicago's sake, I think it would have been absolutely hilarious if the cap went down.

bIueadams 776 Report post Posted March 30, 2022 You know what this means don't you? Players are going to want new deals to start the 2025-26 season to maximize their earnings under the new cap. I suspect agents will be going hard this summer to get their clients 3 year deals. This timing is perfect for us. Most of our current prospects (and ones drafted this year) will be ready to come up in 3 seasons. Lets sign some stop gaps for 3 seaons, then ditch them all once their contracts are done and enjoy our nice fat cap space and plenty of ELC's. Go after a UFA star at that time.
