Dougie hamilton to calgary

Boston is on the verge of some tough times. I don't understand what they are doing at all. I get that they have to shed salary, but why Hamilton? I mean, good for us that Boston becomes a weaker team. But I guess firing their previous GM did nothing to change trading away their youth.

No s***. Just take the guy to arbitration, get him signed to a reasonable bridge deal, and shed whatever salary (Chara, Lucic, Eriksson) necessary to keep him around. I don't really get it either. They hamstrung themselves on the return the minute the chose to move him as opposed to a half dozen other cap killers on their s***ty roster.

On the plus side, somewhere in Beantown Jack Edwards is rocking back and forth while crying gently to himself.

It's just ridiculous , Couldnt they of just made a qualifying offer and try to resign him longterm during the season ?

Seidenberg, smith,Marchand, lucic are all guys they could of gotten rid of instead

There f***ed in a few years

Right? Hamilton and Seguin were two guys they should have been building their team around. Now they have neither. While at times it does feel like Holland does play it a little too safe, it is comforting to know he'd never do stupid s*** like this.

Only thing I can think Of that would make sense is if they trade all those picks + there own to land boston kid Hanifan

I think they'll definitely try. Maybe ROR is a possibility as well if they can shed some salary. But after this move, I don't think I'll try to guess what they're thinking :P

I expect at least one more pretty big trade out of them this off season though

The string of trades resulting from the Phil Kessel deal is hysterical. They started with Kessel, then had Seguin and Hamilton, and now have Eriksson, Smith, Matt Fraser, Joe Morrow, a 1st and two 2nds.

That's what you call making moves for the sake of making moves. Unreal.

Right? They looked like geniuses when they landed those 2 1sts for Kessel. They should have stopped there. Guys like Lucic should have been traded. Not Boychuk, Seguin, or Hamilton.

Word is Hamilton was seeking 5.5 million per year. If I were his GM, I'd simply ask how many years he wanted and get the deal done.

I'm surprised there aren't more people crying,"Why didn't Ken Holland make the trade for Hamilton?!" Or "We could have offered more!!"

As if the Bruins would have any interest in sending one of their guys to a division rival.

Correction, to a division rival for a worse 1st rounder than they got from Calgary.

I'm just flabbergasted by the buffoonery on this one. One team initiates three different trades and ends up with NONE of the best players when all is said and done.

Whenever people complain about Ken Holland they should revisit every single Boston Bruins roster move that resulted from their decision to trade Phil Kessel. Without a doubt the dumbest roster management I've seen in a very long time.

My reaction was "Damn, I wish we were still in the west"

When I look at our D corps and I hear that Dougie Hamilton was acquired for some picks..."comforting" is not the word that comes to mind.

Bob Mckenzie tweeted something about l.a possibly getting lucic .... Boston could have picks 13 14 15

At that point I'd pick 3 straight times with better odds of getting one or two future stud players than trying to destroy your team to get Hanifan .., if he busts then today will be the day that turned around arizona if boston makes a deal like that lol

There is still strong reason to believe BOS will trade Milan Lucic today. LA is the leading contender. #TSN

Like already stated in this thread, no chance Hamilton would ever end up in a division rival. Zero reasons to get on Holland's case over this trade.

I think Mac is speaking of the entirety of getting two first round picks for Kessel and not ending up with either of those picks still in your system just a couple years later.

To which someone will say, "Yeah, but Boston would've wanted more from us because we're in the same division." To which I say, "OK, how much more? I want to know exactly how much more before I conclude he would've cost way too much." 24 hours ago we all would've agreed that no one would be able to land Dougie Hamilton for a first-round pick (one that's not even in the top twelve) and two second-round picks.
