Preliminary Red Wings Training Camp Roster

Pulkkinen does suck. He's got one-dimensional depth scorer written all over him. He'd be REALLY lucky to have a Mike Cammalleri type career, but he'll more realistically top out as a Michael Ryder, Brad Boyes, type guy. ....

Wait, are you saying he'll have multiple 30+ goal/60+ point seasons?

Yeah.. I'd be fine with Ryder/Boyes career.

I thought That was the joke, that People Are just continuously taking seriously.

Its kip.

He's just being sarcastic saying all our prospects suck. The same way everyone rips on the scapegoats in Detroit...

You pick out What you think his biggest flaw is and extrapolate it into something so ridiculously skewed that every time something bad happens its their fault.

We love Our prospects unconditionally, then they become nhl regulars and we all turn on them, beg For them to be traded or waived, and then turn on Holland for not Trading them away for 6th&7th round picks. And the narrative after he keeps them instead of moving them for stale peanuts Is that Ken Holland is horrible at managing our assets.

I could be wrong, but what seems more plausible, kip being a smart ass:, or him genuinely thinking all our prospects are garbage.

it seems obvious when its laid out that way, right?

Sometimes I think people just don't read other people's posts... or they read too much into them... or don't consider who's written the post.

so since when does Mantha suck?

Mantha and Pulkkinen both suck. No sarcasm.

Mantha probably has a higher ceiling cause of his size and skill, but he's 100x lazier than Franzen.

Pulkinen is a slap shot, that's about it.

Something tells me you don't mean this.

Listening to Kevin Allen on the radio, he seems to think Franzen will never play again. Whereas Holland seems to expect him to be ready for Training camp. We will see what happens.

Like someone already said, Holland's not going to come out and say "Franzen isn't ready" because the league would expect a retirement which screws us on cap. If Holland just says "I assume he will play" he can always pull the LTIR card when time comes and place Franzen on it without cap issues.

Holland could be either honest when he says "Franzen might be ready" or he might be playing the media for business reasons.

No they can't. Pronger and the team announced he would never play again, yet they allow him to stay on ltir, collecting full paycheck, giving Philly cap relief and then got a job with the nhl. They kind of shot themselves in the foot with the pronger mess.

Wait your "No they can't" is in reference to what?

The league making franzen retire and giving us a bad recapture penalty. I mean they technically could, but after pronger that would look awful on the league

True. But you don't think Holland could just be making statements to media for the sake of laying low?

...like they care.

I mean, this is the difference between having a good GM (one that at least attempts to play within the rules and when stuck between a rock and a hard place, typically does the right thing) and a GM that was always out trying to make the biggest, splashiest off season moves and worrying about the repercussions later much to the detriment of his franchise. ...but as I said, the league doesn't want to punish Philly. To penalize them would be counteractive for their desire for Philly to be successful.

I think he's both more talented and more often invisible than Franzen is.

We're gonna be lucky if Pulks is as good as Filppula or Hudler during their time here. He's no Brett Hull.

Yeah, it wasn't like going into his draft year Pulks wasn't rated a top 10 skater until an injury. And it's not like most trades that Holland nixed in the last year involved pulkks.

Holland is business savvy. I don't doubt he is saying things even though the truth may be opposite...

I love all this Pulk and Mantha suck stuff! Pulk only lead the AHL in points all with playing 31 games in Detroit. Mantha started the season with a broken leg and even after that had 33 points in 62 games, that is getting a point every 2 games...not bad for someone who missed most of training camp and had to make up for lost time. I know Jimmy D said what he said and he knows more than all of us combined, but I reserve my assessment on him after a full healthy season. Even the likes of Abby had less than a point a game in his first AHL season and look how he turned out in the NHL. I know Mantha was touted to be "that sniper" but if he turns into a solid player like Abby and scoring 20+ goals a season, I think he will have a very successful NHL career...

What happens when/if Larkin only scores .6 points a game in his first full season in GR? Does he suck then?
