Holland doesn't expect to be busy this offseason

What does that mean exactly? I'm not sure your post could be any more vague...

Do you not think that WiiM does a decent job with opinion pieces? or Red Wings coverage in general?

While I don't necessarily agree with the piece, I do think they do at least put some thought into their articles before posting them...

For me it depends on the writer. J.J. is good. Kyle, on the other hand, is snarky and cynical. I can't stand his pieces. He's a archetype of those obnoxious Red Wings fans who are simultaneously elitists, homers, and victims, all at the same time.

I just cant believe Mike Illitch approved a trade (involving one of his best players) to a team in Toronto.

Why not? You got back a very good package and Price is probably going to LA or Chicago (rumors). He made the correct move, Norris is going to be a stud.

However, let the conspiracies begin:

Dombrowski is going to Toronto to re-sign Price and offer him 2% stake of the company and 300 million dollar contract on top of that. Also Price was brought in to recruit Kevin Durant to the Raptors, as he was at David Price first start for the Jays on Monday.

Or Price re-signs with the Jays. He be hard pressed to find better run support. But I digress.

Doubt it. Rogers has all the money in the world but doesn't believe in 5+ year contracts for Baseball players, which is why they never sign top FA talent. Would be nice if the new president can convince them to change that but it's been that way as long as Beeston has been in charge (10+ years).

That 5+ year contract thing is a rule Beeston put in place, who is done at the end of the season. Hence why Dombrowski is heavily rumoured to be taking that job.

While I not expect Price to stick around (though I hope he does), making the playoffs and making a run of it would make the team more attractive to free agents compared to years past regardless.

Yankees will sign Price for 10 years 300 million.

I love Carey Price, but I'm not following this post. Why would a baseball team sign him to that kind of money?

BTW guys, this is a hockey and wrestling forum. Not a baseball forum.

As far as Holland and this off-season goes I think he did a good job at tempering expectations through the media, while acquiring some pieces that should make a difference this season and surprisingly cutting ties with some mistakes/easy re-sign options that he would normally jump all over -- Weiss/Zidlicky.

His next "test" is going to be managing assets. Which players stay? Which players go?

Do we move some vets to make room for younger players?

This is going to determine Holland's viability as an NHL GM going forward.

Will we be able to continually "rebuild on the fly" through asset management or will we end up having to go the TANK IT route because we don't have the players or the prospects to make the moves necessary to continually reload year in and year out.

It means every wiim article I've ever read has been trash

There you go. Spelling it out wasn't hard.

I don't mean to pick on you specifically DD, but there's so much posting that goes on in these forums where humor is implied or sarcasm is implied or what have you... and it doesn't work because most people just aren't that funny nor do they really understand how sarcasm works.

Yes, but there are also people in these threads that take the practice of discourse and their opinions way too seriously while at the same time not really knowing what they are talking about.
