Oh good Lord...How the f*** are we going to upgrade our D now? We have 6 D under contract and one spot going to a kid...

Will Holland continue to pay Kindl $2.4M to sit in the pressbox or will he bring up Marchenko and sit (waste) him?

Even if Kindl gets traded, that still leaves a kid in the pressbox if he signs someone... I just think going forward with the corps we have and only having a rookie come up does not bode well for us...

We really need to upgrade this position by signing Green or Franson if possible.

This offseason is turning into a turd. Ya, I am comfortable with going with kids, but why fill all your roster spots before you even see if you can upgrade at a decent price?

I am not even going to waste my day tomorrow seeing everyone else upgrading and Holland sitting still with Cleary, Andersson and Smith being our signings. Sure Weiss is now gone, but that just opens the door for a broken down Franzen to take a roster spot up. IMO, Cleary, Franzn and Smith should have all been gone. RIght now Detroit has $13M in wasted cap space on D in Ericsson, Smith, Q and K. I'd dump all of them to give Green and Franson contract and then fill the rest with kids. Right now our former coach is laughing is ass off...maybe sending Blashill flowers in condolences...

Meh. 750k-500k too much, but 2 years is good. I don't think you can fix stupid, but if Smith is allowed to carry the puck more in Blashills system maybe that will reduce the turnovers and increase the point total.

Not stupid. I prefer confused

My only hope is he improves with the coaching change.

At the very least I'd like to see him get a chance on the PP.

Dekeyser is reliable out there and makes nice passes but doesn't have a very good shot. And while Kindl (when he's going through his good phase) can get a shot through traffic, he's a major risk out there on the point. Could Smith really be worse?

Smith's shot isn't really all that great. His one timer almost never hits the net. He might be a little more effective if he's allowed to skate in a bit, but if you're thinking his shot is an improvement over Dekeyser's you're probably going to be disappointed.

That occurred to me after I posted. I can't really think of a time I saw Smith with an impressive slapper. This team is definitely lacking in guys with good slapshots from the point. Smith's offensive strengths seem to come on the move carrying the puck, though that can also be a bit of a highwire act.

Hopefully it's at least a little better? I'm a fan of DK, but I've seen him almost fall over trying to take a slapshot from the point.

It probably is a case of if it ain't broke don't fix it since they had the 2nd best PP in the league last season. I'm mainly just curious to see how he'd do out there.

Aye our best slapshots on PP come from Kronner or Z.

Dekeyser shot is meh and Smith is average. I'll admit, I haven't really watched Green on the PP in Washington. Is his slapshot realgud?

If Smith fails this season under Blash, I stick to my stance on him. Overrated and over hyped by the fans. But I truly hope he does well.

Green has a good slapshot and a great one timer. He actually takes a lot of wrist shots from the point too. Pretty much just shoots it every chance he gets. Realgud.

I wonder who smith will play with this year. He would probably do well with Dekeyser but green is already slated in that spot and is better suited for the top 4 role anyway. I can't see smith and kindl being trusted to play together on a line so I would guess that Quincey takes a spot on that line and either smith or kindl sits
