frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted June 30, 2015 Oh look after the ridiculous Mantha hype now it's Larkin .. This team isn't going anywhere so why not let him get used to the pro game in the ahl and call him up for a few games here and there Best of luck to Weiss 1 Jacksoni reacted to this

jimmyemeryhunter 2,747 Report post Posted June 30, 2015 https://shar.es/1qe0ZQ Holland talks specifically about wanting to see what Larkin can do, as well as athanasiou. Looks like they'll keep aa at center and try him and dylark both out in the NHL.

Let's see how larkin does there , if he dominates the game in all aspects and has like 55 pts in 50 games let's say then I'm all for giving him a call up and see what happens But I think he needs to start down and dominate with the other kids 1 krsmith17 reacted to this
joesuffP 1,746 Report post Posted July 1, 2015 I can't see why Larkin wouldn't be able to put up Numbers like Sheahan did in his first year as a 3rd line center 1 marcaractac reacted to this
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted July 1, 2015 (edited) Yeah, I don't understand why do it this year unless you think you have a good chance at landing that RH Dman tomorrow. The buyout made way more sense next season, for reasons more than just shortening the term. Kenny said to HSJ that it's for re-signing UFA's next year, but I think that's smoke and mirrors. Quinceys 4.25+Danny's 1mil bonus+whatever the cap goes up by would be enough to re-sign Dekeyser, Abdelkader and Helm. I do love the fact there trying to give Larkin a chance to crack the roster, kid is turning heads. Edited July 1, 2015 by Detroit # 1 Fan
Helmethead 235 Report post Posted July 1, 2015 Next summer KQ is a UFA and Howard will likely be traded. That's 10 mil right there. Dump Kindl. That's another 2.5 mil. 1 Detroit \# 1 Fan reacted to this

It's not like we're pressed up against the cap, far from it. Should be interesting to see how tomorrow works out.

marcaractac 3,962 Report post Posted July 1, 2015 Pretty sure Nyquist will get a long term deal Would be smart to lock him up imo Definitely. A bridge deal puts him into UFA age. Gotta lock him up now. If he is given a short deal, and tears it up, it will cost a hell of a lot more. Overpay him now, his contract will become a steal. Holland has literally been doing that for years. Oh look after the ridiculous Mantha hype now it's Larkin .. This team isn't going anywhere so why not let him get used to the pro game in the ahl and call him up for a few games here and there Best of luck to Weiss Because Larkin showed more in merely a month than Mantha has in almost an entire season. Not saying Mantha won't get there, but Larkin's game allows him to contribute at the pro level. He does not need the development that Mantha does. Instead of waiting until the kid is 21/22 like we always do, there is a chance we may finally have a player who will already be making a big impact on this team in a top 6 role by that age. It isn't hype. Many of us feel he is ready. Obviously Blash and Holland think he may be as well.
Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted July 1, 2015 Kenny's FA actions have been BRUTAL in last couple of years... Ian White, as far as I remember was bought out Carlo, Tootoo and now Weiss... Did I forgot someone?
Helmethead 235 Report post Posted July 1, 2015 I think Helm gets moved back to centre while Dats is out. But I could see Larkin centering a 3rd line playing with Jurco and Pulkkinen. Larkin would not be matching up with opponents top lines.

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted July 1, 2015 Kenny's FA actions have been BRUTAL in last couple of years... Ian White, as far as I remember was bought out Carlo, Tootoo and now Weiss... Did I forgot someone? Like with Samuelsson, I think it was just that White's contract expired and Kenny understandably had zero interest in re-signing. I think the buyouts were just the three you mentioned, Cola, Tootoo, now Weiss. I didn't really see enough of Weiss in Florida to know if this was doomed from the start, but Holland's track record the last few seasons have not been great. Though he did ok last season in picking up Zidlicky and Cole.
Helmethead 235 Report post Posted July 1, 2015 Weiss was a classic case of a second line player getting 1st line ice time on a bad team for years. I call it the Steve Sullivan syndrome. He played on bad Leaf teams and piled up points. On a good team in a lesser role he was useless. Weiss came here injured. He never really got it going here. Ray Whitney was signed here after Feds left . He never fit. But he went on to win a cup in Carolina. Maybe Weiss rebounds with a new team. But he can't skate like he used to which is what made him successful.

Though he did ok last season in picking up Zidlicky and Cole. Weiss was called Weisserman (their version of Stevie Y). He wasn't that bad but again he was a 3rd line center on a food team. I think that this is Scotty effect, since Scotty left, Kenny hasn't been that great. He's building Playoff contender team and not SC contenders. Helmethead 235 Report post Posted July 1, 2015 Terrible signing in the first place. Kenny just admitted the blunder and is moving on so to speak. I just hope he doesn't hand out another stupid UFA deal to a player who isn't worth it like Green.
