Just thinking out load here. the BL is set. the one big are of need is a #2 C/big RHed winger. As of right now it is easy to see the following lineup:

Z-datsyuk-Abby

Nyquist-open-tatar

Jurco-Sheahan-Pulks

Anderson-Glendening-Miller

ferraro-open

Dekeyser-Green

Kronwall-Ericsson

Smith-marchenko

Lashoff or Kindl

Howard/Mrazek

We could keep 8 d or move Kindl/KFQ. If Z is the #2 C then we need a top 6 winger. What we don't have is a big RHed physical guy that scores. We also have helm who is kinda without a true position. he is a checking C when used correctly, but Glendening does the same job for 1/3 the price. We also have the cap room for a big contract.

Thoughts? Hopes? Dreams?

Why do people keep forgetting about Helm? Also, Franzen could be in the line-up opening night.

Zetterberg can step up while pavel is gone ... Sheahan can move to 2nd , larkin to 3rd if he makes it .. Helm can play center as well ... Glendening can move to 3rd and anderssen 4th while pavel is gone

don't think we need to add a 35 yrs old richards who didn't even get 40 pts last yr playing on the best team .... No way he comes here and gets 50-60

Can we please sign a winger that would remove Abdelkader from the top line?

Are you living in the past? Abby hits everything that moves, he battles for pucks goes into corners, and is coming off a 23 goal 44 point season. Not to mention this is a contract year for him, so he may even put up 55 points

Didn't forget him. Just not sure where he fits. He isn't a scorer. His best position is checking C, which is also Glendenings best position for 1/3 the price. In this day and age of salary caps you can't have 3.5 million cap hits as checkers-which helm will be on his next contract summer 2016. he is a GREAT trade piece. franzen cant' be counted on for anything. I doubt he makes it out of october healthy.

Adding richards is fine, not great. he is just holding that psoition for 1 year untill larkin is ready. Nothing more. I would bet good money that this move is a result of Bashill and Holland chatting about if he is ready and Blashill thinks he needs time. Just a gut feeling.

44 points is good for a 1st liner playing with Z and Nyqyist?

Maybe in a lockout shortened season it is. A talented winger would have scored more than 44 points on the first line with two talented linemates like he had. I won't deny that he battles for pucks and plays hard, but a 1st liners top priority should be putting up lots of points.

Exactly. There was a time when I was very frustrated with Abby being on the 1st line. But since then he's more than proved he deserves to be a top line guy now.

Z needs a winger than can create space for him or Z won't be making many plays. One Z and two small wingers on his side = rattled

You've been talking about trading Helm for years. There's a reason he's still a Wing and that's cause bottom 6 guys like Helm help teams win Stanley Cups.

Exactly. Helm is only disposable if/when AA or Larkin are on this club. Even then, you can't have too much speed.
