Semin signs with Candiens for $1.1m, 1 year term.

Kenny, we could have done that, couldn't we? With Dats and Z's leadership in the locker room, they could have gotten his lazy arse back to a respectable performance level.

Who cares. We don't need players with motivational issues. People slamming Mantha would have a field day with Semin.

Pleiness is fairly reliable, in my experience. Brendan Savage is actually the beat writer who disputed the rumor that Jurco was going to sign this deal. He said that a "source" was insisting that Jurco and the Wings were very far apart as of yesterday.

I'm still a huge Jurco supporter. I think he has a ton of upside despite a pretty mediocre looking second season. The Red Wings botched his development last season -- he either needed to play big minutes in Grand Rapids another year or actually be utilized properly in Detroit. Nobody is going to do s*** offensively with Drew Miller and Luke Glendening.

Hoping for a nice rebound from Jurco and ideally spending more time with Sheahan as his center going forward.

Pleiness actually said the same thing yesterday. Some times they get it wrong, Holland loves smoke and mirrors. Just glad everyone is under contract now.

It doesn't help everyone in the Wings media is a lap dog for the organization. When they claim someone is "far apart" on a deal, obviously that reflects more poorly on the player than Holland.

Didn't even notice that Pleiness tweeted about it yesterday.

Savage has been on the defensive for the past few hours over it. I actually feel bad for the diggers sometimes - we tend to remember when they swing and miss, more than when they're right about something.

Totally. It's why to this day Aaron Ward still makes fun of himself on TV for reporting Iginla to Boston at the deadline prematurely a few years ago. It happens. I respect all of the Detroit diggers, (except a certain one who always paints Holland as an angel...) They usually have the Detroit centric news faster than the MSHM. Couple of times it's wrong, and like you said, that's all we remember. Just reading their twitter mentions after a wrong report is painful

Red Wings re-sign Tomas Jurco to two-year deal worth $1.8 million. Story: http://bit.ly/1JE3Br7

Savage more reliable? ;)

Looks like they weren't as far apart as some would have led us to believe.

This makes me happy, Jurco has been my favorite of the kids so far. I just hope he gets utilized properly, if so the numbers will come and his confidence will return.

Wooo, I like the two years on jurco. One less contract to deal with next year.. Here's to hoping he starts developing towards a physical goal scorer :)

Even if he doesn't light up the scoresheet, a big, physical, fast kid whos defensively responsible and can still bring a good amount of skill to the bottom six isn't a bad thing.

How awesome would it be if Homer managed to teach Jurco his GPS-like ability to stay outside of the crease (seriously, how many of the goals called back on Homer for goaltender interference not actually interference?). We've seen the videos of Jurco's hands, that could be a deadly combination on the PP, Jurco and Pulkkinen.

I'm hoping that is an experiment we will see.

PP #1 Hank, Pav, Abby Kronner, Green

PP #2 Nyquist, Richards, Jurco, Dekeyser, Pulkkinen.

Nice!

I'd rather have kronner by himself on the first unit like last year and dd and green together on the second because kronner can qb the pp by himself dekeyser isn't great offensively and green isn't great defensively so that would work out better for both
