Here is Detroit's:

Detroit Red Wings

2009 team/theory: Gordie Howe, Nicklas Lidstrom, Terry Sawchuk and Steve Yzerman. Eleven Stanley Cups for the Red Wings. I believe Gordie, Lidstrom and Stevie Y are locks. I went with Sawchuk. He won three Cups in four seasons as the Wings' netminder in the early '50s.

2015: Pavel Datsyuk will make the Hall of Fame and have his number retired, but he can't crack this group. Same goes for Henrik Zetterberg. So: Howe, Lidstrom, Sawchuk, Yzerman.

I think it was Custance who wrote the ESPN piece, and I agree with him. There really isn't much room for debate here I don't think. Abel, Delvecchio, Fedorov, Shanahan, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Osgood are all great players. But I don't think any of them can unseat the four he mentioned.

Here's what I learned from Buccigross's list

1. His list wasn't that much different than mine.

2. Eddie Shore is a mythical person who never actually played in the NHL. Much like a Paul Bunyan type.

3. Too many modern players. Grioux, Kopitar, Kane (rape), Tayes, Pavelski, Benn, Tavares? Over guys like Lindros, Robitaille, Hall, Pilote (not the guy that traded Jesus), Nolan and Billy Smith?

4. My list included GM's and coaches. You have to put Trotz on Nashville's mountain or Lamoriello on Jersey's. They're forever linked with those franchises.

5. The Rangers did not exist prior to 1994. I stated as such in my thread.

6. The only debate on the Red Wings would be Lindsay or Sawchuk. I put in Lindsay. As stated, he's lived longer and is still an ambassador for the team. I think he's more remembered as a Wing.

What about Ted Lindsay?

Omission on my part. I think you're right, you could argue Lindsay over Sawchuk and I wouldn't disagree. Sawchuk was a beast who won a ton of games, and a ton of Stanley Cups, on a loaded, dynasty team. But Lindsay helped make that team a dynasty. So yeah, I agree with you, Lindsay it is.

Giroux shouldn't be on Philadelphia's list over Hextall at this point.

Pavelski over Nolan for San Jose?

I think Chris Neil and Chris Phillips should get serious consideration for the Sens due to their long tenure with the team.

Don't agree with Kopitar in for Robitaille.

I agree with Nashville. At this point in franchise history, Weber and Rinne deserve to be up there. I do think that this would be even more interesting with coaches allowed. In that case, Trotz has a permanent spot.

Columbus will continue to change over the years. What about Jared Boll? Longest tenured Jacket on the roster and holds the franchise record for penalty minutes, passing Jody Shelley recently. He'll reach 500 games with Columbus this coming season.

Isn't Jody Shelley retired?

As for Hextall, no way he should be listed ahead of Lindros. Giroux being listed ahead of Lindros is a joke also. Buccigross must have something against Lindros to list a modern day player who's not even as good as Lindros was in his prime. Or was he merely projecting into the future?

A big reason why Graves was so successful for the Rangers was because he played on the same line as Messier. When Graves scored 50 goals for the Rangers he said himself that it was mainly because of playing with Messier. To me Messier will always be an Oiler. He won 5 cups in Edmonton. He was a key cog, the leader for the Rags cup win in 1994 but he was also the leader of all those great Oilers teams in the 80s

Yeah, Shelley is retired. I meant Boll will reach 500 games this season. Pretty sure Shelley held the franchise PIM record for Columbus before Boll broke it.

I'm not sure if Buccigross was projecting that Giroux would put up better numbers than Lindros in the future.

Also, considering Neil and Philips have played well over 10 seasons with Ottawa, they should be considered. Neil holds their franchise record for PIM also.

This list is about who is should be on the mount Rushmore for each individual franchise and every team have a story to tell. If Messier is a huge part of Edmonton's story, he should be on their list. If he is a big part in NYR's history, he should be on their list as well. One has nothing to do with the other.

I honestly don't believe Messier should be up for both Edmonton and Rags... I also think Adam Graves should be up for the Rags.

I hope you're joking. Him getting his number retired was a travesty. Andy Bathgate wore that same number and his number wasn't honored by the franchise until after they retired Graves. He's one of the best wingers of his generation. Graves was a good player, but not in Bathgate's league.

The Rangers don't respect their older players. Bill Cook, Harry Howell and Andy Bathgate are constantly ignored by the modern day fan for Messier, Graves, Richter and Leetch.

From what I remember Harry Howell played more games than any Ranger in history, and he didn't get his jersey retired until 2009. Pitiful franchise.

Yeah, Shelley is retired. I meant Boll will reach 500 games this season. Pretty sure Shelley held the franchise PIM record for Columbus before Boll broke it.

Projecting is different, but I thought the list looked at the present. Obviously, if Giroux retires tomorrow, he doesn't get on the Flyers' Mount Rushmore. Strange choice to pick him over any other player they've had since their Cup teams. Maybe Buccigross did project. Or maybe he hates Eric Lindros.

BTW, where's eva to tell me how Mark Howe is the greatest Flyer of all time?

Jordan Tootoo belongs on Mount Rushmore? Is this what you're trying to spit out?

Holy hell kid.

Sure, he definitely could and should be in Nashville's rushmore for now, but no. That's not what I was trying to say.

I was asking why you would post "does it really bother you that much" when people were sharing their opinion on the topic.

I was curious why you cared so much, that it bothered him that much. Wutsittoya.
