Well this should be interesting

Dan Cleary signs a one-year, one-way deal worth $950,000. He'll have to fight for a roster spot.

Wings have signed Daniel Cleary to a 1 year, one way deal for $950,000. Entire salary can be buried in the AHL.

...but wait, what if 2008 Cleary comes back, we'll have a helluva deal!

I saw pics of the Wings loading the buses to TVC this morning, I can picture Danny boy chasing the bus right now with his equipment bag over his shoulder screaming, "guys! Wait up! Wait for me!" then Z tells the bus driver to keep going, its nothing.

we need flashy to PhotoShop Danny in the Forrest Gump scene looking for a seat on the bus..."seat's taken."

I actually hope we keep Quinces around. He became an important part of this team whether people are willing to admit it or not.

He is a much more important piece to our defense than many will ever give him credit for, but paying 4.25 million dollars for a 3rd pairing defenseman is a bad idea, and if he gets paired with smith, things go bad, which is pretty likely since the top four is basically set.

Nobody wants this, but I've thought about it in light of that Glencross article/discussion. If this was part of a verbal agreement then I'm glad we kept it. It keeps the reputation of the organization high and shows our young players that we're loyal and we'll pay them back if they take some discounts to help out the team. Also, the reputation always matters to UFAs. We've had a couple of disgruntled employees jump come to us (Alfie) or choose us (Modano). And I think both Green and Tootoo came in part due to Helm's positive reports.

And Cleary will probably just end up playing in GR which could be good to ensure some quality guidance since Blashill's gone (don't know the new coach).
