Kane case headed to grand jury

So the accusers lawyer has dropped her as a client.

I'm trying to read through the details, but it seems he didn't believe the story of how the bag came into the mothers possession, and apparently he accidentally released her name.

This whole case is a dumpster fire.

He did release her name, though. When he held up the bag during the press conference it was visible/had not been redacted.

Haven't seen anything about him accidentally leaking her name. The way I understand it is basically the DA showed him that the mother lied about how she got the evidence.

Edit: AH, that was stupid of him to leak the name that way. I did think it was weird that he was waving evidence around, but more for reasons of contamination...

It's seeming like the case will be dropped and we'll never know what actually happened.

If that's the case, i will take the very unpopular amongst the masses decision and default to him being innocent.

I still will never like him, and even less so now, but I can't in good judgement consider him a rapist unless it's proven betond a reasonable doubt.

*sigh* His troubled career continues

In the second press conference he also says her first name out loud. I guess the confidentiality agreement ends once you quit? Interesting

I wonder if someone could be liable for leaking the name. She's could very well face harassment no matter how this thing ends up.

The case is a disaster. I don't understand how any of this happens.

Not to get all James Patterson on everyone, but if that was a REAL bag from this case that was actually processed.... it took someone very high up to get that out and I wonder if said person hasn't threatened the lawyer with physical harm to himself or his family.... And the way he's thrown them under the bus while backing down seems sketchy...I dunno, with as much money as the owner/team/NHLPA/Kane stands to lose on this case... it smells really, REALLY bad... Even if it WAS the lady or her family getting access, what does that say about other cases investigated by Buffalo PD? How many other evidence bags come up missing?

Word to the wise, at the end of the day lawyers are only out for themselves and their careers. And this is coming from a guy who grew up with two lawyers.

Wait a minute, how could the lady have gotten the evidence bag from police custody??? Unless she stole it while they were initially bagging evidence?

It's likely the evidence bag that held the accuser's personal belongings (cell phone, clothes, etc). The girl likely had items returned to her after they were processed & deemed not necessary in the investigation. That would probably explain why the bag had the examining nurse's name on it.
