Looking at the D pairs on each team (Forwards w/o Datsyuk who cares and they are interchangeable lol):

Of course you've got Green & DD on Delvecchio and Kronwall & Ericsson on Lindsay... Then it gets interesting

Kindl & Quincey on Howe? Smith & Marchenko on Lindsay?

I wonder who will be the 7th man and the odd man out....

Also found it interesting that Franzen, Richards and Tatar are on Delvecchio, and Abdelkader, Nyquist and Zetterberg are on Lindsay. Early indications were that Z would be on Richards' wing to start. Maybe not?

Just speculation on my part, obviously. Sheahan-Glendening-Helm are on the same team, as are Miller-Andersson-Ferraro. Could be a glimpse a some line combinations.

If Andersson and Ferraro are in the lineup while Jurco is out, I would be angry.

The speculation doesn't work so cleanly, though. Team Howe doesn't have too many NHL forwards. Unless you take that to mean that Jurco-Larkin-Mantha (or Pulkkinen) will be a line for us.

I think that's interesting in itself. They split up talent, teams' potential centers as: Datsyuk/Richards/Sheahan/Glendening/Helm/Nosek

Z/Andersson

Larkin/Athanasiou

I must have missed some prospect centers.

Maybe that means they're testing how Larkin can handle himself. Also, to me this might mean that Helm and Sheahan both playing wing might really be a possibility (I don't like the idea).

My thoughts as well... If it is early indication though, I do hope there are changes coming...

Just curious. What kind of changes? W/o Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Richards are the top two centers, and Abdlekader, Nyquist, Franzen, and Tatar are the top four wingers. So there's your logical top six.

I'm not thrilled to see Sheahan on a line with Glendenning and Helm though. That just seems like too much of what we didn't like about Babcock's approach.

This is the way I see the lines looking... Obviously it's not exact, but I'm sure it's somewhat accurate...

Team Delvecchio

Forwards:

Tomas Tatar - Brad Richards - Johan Franzen (2)

Riley Sheahan - Luke Glendening - Darren Helm (3)

Eric Tangradi - Tomas Nosek - Mark Zengerle

Colin Campbell - Zach Nastasiuk - Jerome Verrier

Pavel Datsyuk, Adam Marsh

Defensemen:

Danny DeKeyser - Mike Green (2)

Brian Lashoff - Ryan Sproul

Richard Nedomlel - Scott Czarnowczan

Ty Stanton, Jared Nightingale

Goaltenders:

Petr Mrazek

Matt Mancina

Team Howe

Forwards:

Andreas Athanasiou - Dylan Larkin - Anthony Mantha

Tomas Jurco - Evgeny Svechnikov - Teemu Pulkkinen

Tyler Bertuzzi - Andy Miele - Mitch Callahan,

Marek Tvrdon - Dominic Turgeon - Dan Cleary

Joel Rechlicz

Defensemen:

Jakub Kindl - Kyle Quincey (3)

Xavier Ouellet - Nick Jensen

Nathan Paetsch - Robbie Russo

Justin Lemcke, Andrew Prochno

Goaltenders:

Tom McCollum

Jared Coreau

Connor Ingram

Team Lindsay

Forwards:

Gustav Nyquist - Henrik Zetterberg - Justin Abdelkader (1)

Drew Miller - Joakim Andersson - Landon Ferraro (4)

Jeff Hoggan - Louis-Marc Aubry - Martin Frk

Triston Grant - Kurt Etchegary - Nick Betz

Conor McGlynn, Evan Polei

Defensemen:

Niklas Kronwall - Jonathan Ericsson (1)

Brendan Smith - Alexey Marchenko

Joe Hicketts - Vili Saarijarvi

Jarett Meyer, Jalen Chatfield

Goaltenders:

Jimmy Howard

Jake Paterson

So to answer your question zombo, I don't like the looks of what appears to be the 3rd and 4th lines. It doesn't look like Jurco or Pulkkinen are locks and I think at least one of them should have a spot reserved in the top 9. It also looks like Smith is the odd man out with Quincey and Kindl being on the same team. Who knows though, anything can happen in camp. These players just need to prove they deserve to be there on opening night...

Gustav Nyquist - Henrik Zetterberg - Justin Abdelkader (1)
Tomas Tatar - Brad Richards - Johan Franzen (2)

Riley Sheahan - Luke Glendening - Darren Helm (3)

Drew Miller - Joakim Andersson - Landon Ferraro (4)

Those top two lines look about right. But I can't see that as a third line, and I can't see Andersson playing a regular shift as the forth line center. If that's what Blashill has planned then I'll be dissapointed.

The all center line returns in "new and improved?" form?

Exactly my thoughts. So those are the "changes" I'd like to see made. As well as Smith in the top 6 and getting some power-play looks. Although I'm sure there are quite a few that would disagree with me on that...

:g: I wonder who?

Maybe it's Jurco Callahan Pulkkinen? I thought Blashill had a thing for each of these guys and more so than Miller, Andersson or Ferraro. Although it does make alot more sense as a fourth line.

^aslo proof we have far too many forwards.

I doubt any of those guys would play at center. Svechnikov has played center with Cape Breton, so I imagine it'll be either him or Miele between Jurco and Pulkkinen.

Isn't he a career AHLer?

Yes. He's in the wrong era. Still think it's odd we invite guys like him to camp. Who exactly is he going to fight?

Then again, I thought that about Downey and May, and they both ended up on the roster. But even that was a different era, despite seemingly being only yesterday.

If they actually like him for some reason, I'm all for it. I just doubt that's the case. Maybe the angle is he brings a different game then anyone else to training camp? A different type of player to spice things up?

Honestly, I think it's just a move to "keep the flies off" during training camp. Lot of young players and guys who play a heavy game trying to make a team - you see people take runs sometimes. Rechlicz hasn't played in the NHL since 2011-12, so I highly doubt it's anything more than keeping the other teams honest.

Didn't Downey injure Filppula once during a preseason scrimmage? I seem to remember something like that.

I hope you realize that if we win the Cup this year, I'm totally giving Rechlicz credit for toughening us up during this time of the season.

If we win the cup I'll be fine with that
