I'd say 90% of the players on a PTO right now are irrelevant. We have too many guys already in the show and all the players on PTO are expected to play at the NHL level

I don't see anyone on a PTO right now that would be a good fit in Detroit... MAYBE Steve Bernier if we got rid of someone on the fourth line

Toronto is hoping that they'll rejuvenate some careers out of these guys and trade them at the deadline for some picks or prospects

Chicago I have no explanation for lol

It is kind of odd because we normally have a PTO for someone out of the Michigan area. I guess brass didn't see anyone that caught their attention

While Chicago is in cap-hell and needs some cheap vets and Toronto is... well, Toronto.

Guys can ask for a PTO even if they know there's no way they're making the team there. Given the media coverage of Chicago and Toronto, those are the places to go in the hockey world if you want to get noticed by another team and possibly get a contract there.

This isn't the worst group that ever was. We just don't need them.
