That would technically make Nyquist - Sheahan - Franzen the third line. Daaaaamn.

Yeah, I'm starting to think that might be okay. Would you disagree?

Unless they try

Tatar- Richards - Nyquist

Jurco - Sheahan - Franzen

I know Nyquist/Tatar haven't worked as well in the past but it might work with Richards for whatever reason.

Remember all those people saying Pavel gifted Tatar all his goals last season? Are we going to give all the credit to Richards this year?

Yes. Yes I will.

No but truly impressive performance by Tatar.

Yes, that would be OK.

Laughing at our own jokes are we now? Sigh the burden of LGW and its soap actors.

Now now,

Although I may be one of the hypocrites that changed my vote to Tatar... (oopsie) I think we should still wait to see end of the season to see how Nyquist does.

Sarcasm aside, though it really is too early to tell which is better.

Hey now. I was agreeing with you about how great that third line would be. "OK" would be an understatement. Hence the " ".

I'm more of an action movie actor anyway. I'd do my own stunts too.

I think Hank looked alright. Seemed to be moving well. And Abby played a good game. But Nyquist was still on summer vacation so that line was nonexistent. Zetterberg will be fine.

I keep seeing people rag on Zetterberg and I'm not sure why. I agree - his skating seems to be in good form.

I love me some Z...but the fact of the matter is that Z has never had great speed. At the beginning of his career he was a tad above average (NHL standards), but not so much anymore. I saw that he looked a little sluggish last night, but I'm not reading into it at all. He's matching up in the pre-season against much younger guys, whom a lot are headed back to the AHL soon, he tends to look slow(er). He's playing against guys who are fighting for a job, and this is playoff hockey to them. Some of these guys will actually never make it full time to the NHL and they realize this, so they are pushing as hard as they possible can. Z is likely to be int he mindset of getting in game shape, getting his timing back, working on line communication,....just another day of preparation for whent he real season starts.

Elite players aren't neccesarrily the fastest players on the ice, nor are he fastest players on the ice neccesarrily elite. Z is absoltuley and elite player and I don't use the word "elite" lightly.

Z brings so much more in terms of hard work, determination, hockey smarts, and both underrated passing and hands. At least he's not Larry Murphy (toward end of career) slow, or Homer (toward end of career) slow,...now they looked like they were skating in slow motion.

Z had a lot of brutal giveaways. We know how smart hank is so I believe it's just a sign of rust and not his age. He'll get it together

And still had fewer than Kronwall, who actually did have a really bad game. Maybe he's better suited to the 3rd pairing D? :ninja:

I thought Z was exerting himself quite a bit while skating. I think he just has to work much harder to keep up with the speed. But this isn't necessarily a bad thing because he still has the ability to "work harder". Some NHL players lose even that motivation/ ability >.>

Hopefully this won't be an issue when Datsyuk returns and Z slides into wing position and play at his maximum potential without having to carry the load.

And people need to get it through their heads that Zetterberg has ALWAYS been a below average skater in terms of speed. Even when he was 23 years old. He has very short strides when he skates - which is usually not the skating style preferred in terms of speed. Watch for it next time, it's an obvious characteristic of his.

Also I did not like that Zetterberg still had the most ice time amongst forwards last night. Hoping Blash reduces the euro twins ice time a bit this year and gives the youngsters more time and responsiblity.

You have to make that transition at some point. We will just have to see once regular season starts.

Will this drum ever stop beating or will it be brought up in every single thread?

What's wrong with being concerned for him as a person?

Everyone's allowed to be concerned for Franzen, but I'm not allowed to be concerned for Zetterberg, double standards.

Just trying to switch roles here. You guys seem to like to do that. Just trying to play the game. Seems to be allowed.
