krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted September 30, 2015 Abdelkader - Larkin - Nyquist Franzen - Sheahan - Glendening Jurco - Nosek - Ferraro Bertuzzi - Athanasiou - Mantha DeKeyser - Smith Russo - Jensen Ouellet - Sproul Mrazek Coreau * If someone wants to update with graphics, please do. * As far as I know, Ken Kal will have an audio stream again. Anyone know if the Pens will be streaming a video feed anywhere? I haven't seen anything yet... I like this lineup a lot, but I do wish Blashill would get over this experiment with Glendening in the top 6. I'd much rather see Jurco up there. The only other thing I would change is switching Smith and Jensen... 1 T.Low reacted to this

If Blash is really taking a look at Jurco, let him play with offensive linemates. Run a third line of Nosek-Glendening-Ferraro. Swapping Smith for Jensen - more than anything - is because it drives me nuts to see the team able to pull off a lefty-righty combo for each pair, but not do it. krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted September 30, 2015 Blash said that he'd like to have as close to a full lineup as possible for Friday's game against the Leafs. I would assume there will be a few more cuts over the next couple days... I'm thinking they're trying to give Larkin as many looks in preseason as possible, before they inevitably send him down to Grand Rapids...

I would assume there will be a few more cuts over the next couple days... I'm thinking they're trying to give Larkin as many looks in preseason as possible, before they inevitably send him down to Grand Rapids... I was 100% certain they'd be sending him down soon, now I'm not so sure. This is going to be his fourth preseason game with the team. If he has a quiet game like he did in Boston, I can see them sending him down. If he plays like he did against the Penguins like he did last time...
krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted September 30, 2015 I'd still be shocked if he starts the season in Detroit. We have way too many forwards and not enough spots. We shall see very soon though... 9 days, but who's counting...
Jesusberg 1,256 Report post Posted September 30, 2015 (edited) I'd still be shocked if he starts the season in Detroit. We have way too many forwards and not enough spots. We shall see very soon though... 9 days, but who's counting... I was/am thinking the same thing, but if Helm's out it could change the situation. If Blashill thinks he's outplayed one of Jurco or Pulkkinen, we could see something like: Abdelkader-Zetterberg-Nyquist Jurco/Pulks-Richards-Tatar Sheahan/Pulks-Larkin-Franzen Miller-Glendening-Ferraro Andersson, Jurco/Pulkkinen I'm sure it seems unlikely, but the way they're treating Larkin seems different. For the record, I'd rather he start in Grand Rapids and do the whole "big fish in a small pond" thing at first. Really, the way he's jumped from level to level in the last year worries me a little. He's played six games in the AHL. I almost think it would be worse for him to make the roster, then deal with being sent down. If he's sent down, it's more of a, "well this is the way things work in Detroit." krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted September 30, 2015 I agree. He should and most likely will start in Grand Rapids. And I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play a single regular season game with Detroit until next season...
kickazz 5,459 Report post Posted September 30, 2015 Wasnt his quiet game because of Bergeron matchup he had? Even Zetterberg and Datsyuk struggle against Bergeron
Jesusberg 1,256 Report post Posted September 30, 2015 (edited) I agree. He should and most likely will start in Grand Rapids. And I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play a single regular season game with Detroit until next season... I hate to be a pessimist, but when the injury bug hits, I think they'll call him up. Edit: I'm not saying he didn't do a solid job against Bergeron. I just think he needs to really stand out in order to push someone out of the lineup. Management is already on record saying that he needs to be a go-to guy in order to start in Detroit. As well as he played against Pittsburgh, it was also a different level of competition. jimmyemeryhunter 2,747 Report post Posted September 30, 2015 (edited) The forward lines are kinda sexy tonight though, like they're one of the many possibilities of what our team could possibly look like in the future. With some obvious shuffling, that is. (Glendenning fourth line c, sheahan centering 2nd/3rd line, aa Bert mantha line 2/3, Franzen replaced with pulks) Edited September 30, 2015 by jimmyemeryhunter 1 krsmith17 reacted to this
