Roster Moves by the Wings

I'm completely fine with Jurco being on the 3rd line. I never said he HAS to be on the 2nd line, that's just where I'd like to see him. I'd rather balance through the top 9, so just because he hasn't proven to be better than other options available, he's still there in my hypothetical lineup. Both Larkin and Sheahan have proven more than Jurco at this point, doesn't mean they HAVE to be above him in the lineup...

Saying top 9 to me or 6 doesn't mean anything to me if we got 3 great lines that can score at any given time makes us a threat .... Yes you can look just at numbers and say these our top 6 and be done with it but imagine having a nyquist on the 3rd line in the playoffs vs other teams bottom lines and dmen

That could be the difference in us advancing to the next round or not .... You can look at abdelkader and say he's not as skilled as the zetterbergs and datsyuks so let's put him on the 3rd but he gels well with them and does the dirty work

We have way too much skill and talent this year to just say these our top 2 lines ... We should try and find the right chemistry between guys and get 3 legitimate lines that can produce during a game at any given time instead of always depending on zetterberg and datsyuk

Let's just say when Datsyuk comes back. And if Richard's injury isn't too severe... Blash is going to be in a pickle as to who should be starting where.

The speculation/reason for the whole damn Richards signing was so Zetterberg and Datsyuk could play together. Cuz lets be honest, as much as I love Zberg - he was a s**** center last year in the playoffs looking back at it.

Then Zetterberg comes out and is basically leading the whole league in assists and is 2nd in points AS a center. So now its like.. Do we keep him center? Then wtf happens with Richards? What about this guy named Larkin? Well damn.. Datsyuk has to stay center.. Oh and what about Sheahan.. who simply IS a center. Glenny on 4th center or 3rd scoring line? (ehhh)

Based on Blashill, it sounds like Jurco isn't working hard enough in practice. If it's a back issue, he needs to get it taken care of. If it's attitude, he needs to remove his head from his butt and do what he's told.

Where'd you read this? I'm not saying I don't believe you, I'd just like to read it as well. Curious what Blashill is saying.

#RedWings Quincey says he is on IR, not feeling so great still. No specific timetable.

gregg krupa @greggkrupa 2m2 minutes ago

quincey says he is still not feeling well, at all, after concussion. might take some time.

Helene St. James @HeleneStJames 1m1 minute ago

Spoke with D Kyle Quincey, said no timeline for his return from concussion. Said he's on IR.

Not Good, get well Q... Sam Bennett should be suspended, what BS

Well with Green and Q out, it might be time to see what other kids can do. I am all for just keeping status quo with Smith and Kindl, but inserting Jensen or Sproul for a couple games wouldn't hurt to see what they have. We know what XO and Marchy have, it's time for the other two to try out the NHL.

Anyone else ready to see a roster move involving Drew Miller?

8 GP, 1 assist, -2.

Wings 23rd on the pk with 76.7%.

Time for Athanasoou to replace Miller. Love Miller's gamer quality, but he's not helping us right now. He's a career -19, so the 8 game sample size indicative of what we are going to see going forward = nothing special.

Thoughts?

Fourth liners aren't going to score a lot, and their +/- typically is going to be poor simply because of the situations where they are on the ice. I don't think Miller has had a very strong season thus far, but neither has the rest of the team. If after a half season or so (after the team has had time to adapt to any new strategy that Blashill is implementing) Miller still looks bad then I'd be more inclined to entertain sitting him, but right now I think the biggest issue is system-based, and more specifically the players still trying to adapt to the system (and Blashill trying to adapt his system to the NHL). I don't think our problems have to do with individual player performances.

I think Miller does his job for the mos part, and does it well. Now, if we're talking re-signing him that is where I am ok with him going or staying, either way, for now, though, I don't think bringing up a prejected top 6 guy and putting him in the bottom 6 helps. But that is just my opinion. There are a lot of decisions to be made in the coming months when I comes to these "Babcock Guys." Not counting Richards, I think the order of importance in which your FWD UFA's to be re-signed are:

Abby

Helm

Miller

Andersson

any of the bottom 3 in some capacity can be used as trade pawns, maybe not ALL of them, but any one or combo of two wouldn't hurt this team to lose and may help in making this team a bit better within a trade package to where we need to be better.

The RFA's Sheahan and Pulkkinen are must re-signs (unless Pulk gets dealt (I hope not)) and Ferraro is nether here nor there for me, he can also be included in a trade package if we must, if not, he won't cost too much towards the cap and will still rotate from 12-14 on the depth chart...

You dislike Miller almost as much as nyquististhefuture loves 14 year old prospects.

What is the obsession with bringing up an additional forward when we haven't even figured out what to do with the thirteen we currently have on the active roster?

Not to mention the two on IR that are most likely returning sooner than later?

Nyquist - Z - Abdelkader

Tatar - Larkin - Pulkinnen

Helm - Sheahan - Jurco

Miller - Glendenning - Ferarro

Anderson

agreed, but just wanting to see players playing in the NHL environment and how they handle it. It wouldn't hurt to sit Andy and Ferraro to give AA a looksee while we have some injuries enabling us to bring a player up for a couple of games. AA would slot right in the 2nd line so he wouldn't be wasted in the 4th line role...just a looksee while we have the chance.

I am really interested in what WPG would take for Byf too. Roster player, pick, prospect? 2 roster players, prospect? 2 prospects, roster player?

I need to watch some more Jets games to figure out if they have "a need" that we might be able to provide or if it really comes down to them getting the best package for a player that they're ultimately unlikely to re-sign. He's on their top pairing with Enstrom and on the 1st unit PP. So I can't imagine they're just willing to give the guy away. If they can't get the right pieces for him, doesn't it just make sense to keep him for a potential playoff run? All that being said, we also figure out how we're going to keep Byfuglien past this year, otherwise what's the point in trading for the guy?

Yah, gotta have some preliminary talks to figure out long term fits for both sides.

AA will not come up to play a 4th line PK role.

Dickie, that's exactly why you sit Andy and Ferraro to see what AA can do in the top 6. Miller - Glenny - Helm would be a great 4th line. As a matter of fact that'd be a damn good 4th line.

Tatar - Z - Abby

Pulk - Larkin - AA

Jurco - Sheahan - Nyquist

MIller - Glen - Helm

It wouldn't hurt to ice that team until Richards and/or Pav come back. We won't miss neither of Ferraro or Andy on the 4th. If you must, then switch around AA and Nyquist or Pulk. I simply love the chemistry that Gus, Tinky and Jurcs had before, would love to see if they could rekindl (pun intended) it.

That's not what was said though.

Nyquist has more goals and points than Tatar does. Why put Tatar on the first line and nyquist on the third?
