Possibly. Iginla's holding up pretty well in his late-30s. I think he'll get over 700, but not to 800. Maybe pass Hull for 3rd or 4th.

My point is while Ovie is one of the best, that doesn't necessarily mean he's an amazing captain. If we judged captains to be based off purely stats or even skills for that matter then technically a lot of players who are captains shouldn't be captains.

There's more to it can just being amazing at your position. I guess it's not like Washington has many options between him and Backstrom. But put any of our top guys on that team and Ovie wouldn't be a C.

I'm surprised people don't remember the 2012 bomb shell he dropped to the media when he accused the Capitals of having "locker room jealousy". He also didn't handle his relations well with previous coaches. And quite often didn't have a filter on his mouth on camera.

That's a bit of drama you don't want a captain starting/getting involved in, and doesn't set up a good environment for your teammates.

I'll give an example.

It's somewhat known NOW that Zetterberg and Babcock didn't get along. After Babcock left, Z basically told the media "yeah it was time for him to go and I thank him for his years here". Did we see Z ever throw a fit? Act unprofessional? No. We didn't even know there was any issue and even now we're not 100% sure. Why? Because if there was any issue, it was handled professionally without any cause for drama.

When Bruce Boudreau benched Ovie. Ovie called him a "Fat F****" and got caught on camera doing so.

Not sure about you, but I'd rather have a prospect learn to lead from The Beard than from Ovie. Wouldn't want Larkin calling Blashill a Bald F*** during a game. xD

I would say he's improved quit a bit though since his initial captaincy days.

He's a lot more focused on the SC now and determined. The alarm clock situation was a bit of a face palm lol.

I do hope he wins a cup sometime in his career. Just not anytime soon as I want Datsyuk to get one before he heads to Russia

I think these past couple of seasons has brought back up the who's better "Crosby vs. Ovechkin" debate as a few years ago Sid looked clearly ahead but looks like Ovi is having a renaissance and making it a debate again.

there is no debate Crosby is the best player in the world and can do more than just waiting to unload his onetimer. Ovechkin is one of the best goal scorers in the game but there certainly are better players not just Crosby..Toews , Stamkos, Tavares, Seguin, Benn and Getzlaf come to mind.

Crosby's fallen off that ladder. Last year he had a sub par season for his own standards and currently he's got 3 points in 8 games. Only 28 years old too. If he's already begun his downward trend then that's unfortunate.

If he has another season like last year I would agree but Kessel and him are way too talented for their current points I think they'll figure it out.

I always thought that media created rivalry between the 2 was one of the dumbest things ever Crosby is a center OV a winger. It's like comparing a goaltender and a defender

Crosby isn't on a downward trend. Any more than Ovechkin was on a downward trend a couple years ago when his points dipped. Crosby is the very best player in the world. As much as I love Ovie, and I do, he's not better than Crosby. Nobody is.

It is (was) common here to express that Iginla deserves the Cup. How that f*** on skates deserves the Cup? He's being a captain of his team hasn't been able to win it, how that's deserving? Stapler is like Iginla (f*** on skates ) is unable do a thing to win it and I hope will never touch it.

This guy is, no doubt, highly talented, he scores a lot of goals, he is exiting to watch if you are a fan, but he has no character, he cannot lead thus he will never win the Cup.

This is just stumping me. If the wings get knocked out of the playoffs am I not allowed to wish for a certain player like stamkos or ovie to win a cup just cause I'm a wings fan. The wings can't win the cup every year so in a year which the wings don't win, I.e. the past 7 there are a couple players I'd like to see win like ovie and stamkos
