Horrible first 2 periods, mrazek was amazing and basically stole us the game by keeping us in it

Great 3rd period by the wings and line juggling by blashill , Larkin pulkkinen Tatar played real good together .... Hopefully we learn from this game and get better

I was at the game. As many have already said, terrible first two periods. I thought Larkin looked a little out of place in the first, but once Blash switched lines in the third, his line was clearly the most dangerous. I think Blash needs to keep Larkin at center. It's clear he is more comfortable there.

I thought Nyquist looked 10x better tonight than he did all preseason. Hoping him and Tatar can get a couple over the next few games to get things going.

Also, the Defense is SORELY missing Danny D. I think having him will help iron out some of the big defensive wrinkles the Wings currently have.

Canes deserved that game, and I felt bad looking at the scoreboard seeing 42 shots to 20, and the Wings up by 2. Anyway, a win is a win!

I'm really happy for Abdelkader. I think he owes a lot of his success to the opportunities Babcock gave him.

I'm not a huge Babcock supporter by any means. But I do think he saw something in Abdelkader, and stuck with him, when others may have not.

He's developed nicely and definitely surpassed expectations.

IDK why everyone is so reluctant to show Babcock praise. He was and still is the best coach in this league. He just has a beyond piss poor team now. Abby owes his career to Babs, and rightly so.

Blash showed his skills today with the line adjustments. He's good. I just hope he has the vision to discover another Abdelkader, and not just bank off the Abdelkader that Babs created.

Ok but almost every NHL player has "a history of scoring goals" at lower levels.

He was always known more for his strength, conditioning and grinding ability.

People always give Crosby credit for turning players into great wingers.

Give credit to Thornton for turning wingers into god mode.

But nah not Zetterberg. Lets give Babcock the credit.

Abby scores more goals when Zetterberg is his centerman. Even more so than when Datsyuk centered Abby in 2013.

So can we just agree at the very least that Z and Abby have great chemistry?

I give Babs the credit on Abby because when he chose to play Abby at this position, at the time, Abby was far from what we considered a top line power forward. By fan standards he was a grinder. A career 3rd/4th liner. Babs trusted him and made him a top 6er. Look back to when Babs first assigned him first line duties. RW fans almost universally rejected it regarding Abby as a bottom 6er. Now look at him. Abdelkader is honestly one of Babs best moves as a coach. Literally no one saw it coming besides him.
