Atta boy Stammer that's a huge milestone and with his dedication to fitness I could easily him reaching 1.000 points in under 900 games played. Saw his onetimer against Boston, all Rask could see was a blast landing behind him.

Wonder if there are still people thinking this guy isn't worth the maximum?

He's a heck of a player, that's for sure. About the only thing that will kill his scoring pace other than injury would be if he goes to Toronto as a free agent. Imagine where he'd be if Barry Melrose didn't waste him when he was the TB coach.

Most of the people thinking he is not worth the maximum has NOTHING to do with their opinion of his talents, its because of the cap and the difficulty to put together 4 good lines when paying certain players the max. If Stamkos wants to put himself in a situation where he has a high probability of winning a cup, he wont ask for the max. If he just wants as much money as possible, he will probably land on an average team.

exactly I remember his first year and some geniuses calling him a bust...The Stammer development basically sums up Melrose as a coach lol

Yep. I seem to recall Melrose coaching the Wings' minor league team in Adirondack back in the day and being all butthurt that they hired Scotty Bowman rather than bring him up to the NHL to coach.

What the heck are you guys talking about? Barry Melrose coached Tampa Bay, and Stamkos, for exactly 16 games. He hardly impacted Stamkos' stat line.

Didn't Ovie do it in like 375 games? I think Crosby did it even faster than that. Just puts into perspective just how special those guys are given that Stamkos is an insanely good hockey player in his own right.

Stamkos would have done it in 350 games if it wasn't for Melrose screwing up his development.

Makes no sense. Melrose didn't get long enough to do anything. Franchise bailed on him. Stamkos was a rookie played for a bad team.

Anyway. I was facetiously echoing previous comments from Frank and Xym about Melrose. Kip already touched on the fact that Hairy Barry only coached 16 games or whaetever.

Oh boy not sure if I could compare stamkos early years to ovie and crosby early years. Those two were hitting 100 point seasons year in and year out.

Stamkos is up there though.
