Is Dylan Larkin a lock to stay in the NHL beyond 9-games?

Larkin is a diamond in the rough, something the Wings haven't known since Zetterberg/Datsyuk. The chance to emulate and learn from them isn't something he's going to pick up in Grand Rapids and the chance to do so isn't going to be around forever. Richards is a short timer here, Kenny needs to put a nice package together and get us a legit defender.

Agreed. I'd love to see Ericsson, Kindl, and Mantha for Byfuglien. We could use that guy in our 2A slot.

1A - DeKeyser

Byfuglien - Kronwall

Green - Quincey

I'm sure this conversation already has occured between Blashill and Holland right after this 5-game segment.

Larkin has alot to work on. But the parts of his game that he has talents in are of top-NHL caliber. Such as vision and speed, simultaneously. He needs to learn from our best players. I'm sure he stays. Willing to bet if there are any takers.

I definitely wouldn't give up Mantha in a trade for Byfuglien, nor would it cost anything near that for a rental. But even if Byff had years on his contract at a friendly cap hit, he's not the defender I would be willing to give up a Mantha prospect for. I'm not sure if anyone has watched any of the Griffins games so far this year, but I've watched two and in both games, Mantha was our best player. He does still float from time to time, but what big bodied sniper doesn't? He looked absolutely dominant on a few shifts, and despite only having one assist in 4 games, he's had his fair share of opportunities. He hit a couple posts and got robbed on a few other chances. The points will come for Mantha, along with the rest of the team (he's tied for 3rd on the team in points with 1 through 4 games...)

As for Larkin, no way he's going anywhere.

If Holland waits too long, Byfuglien will be gone. Better to act now.

Jets could be a playoff team. They won't let him go unless their out of the picture.

It's all off-topic from Larkin, though. Hope he keeps proving himself. Right now there's no question that he needs to stay up.

There's a lot of that sentiment given here (from myself as well)... But what if he has 0-pts in his next 5 games, minus something, and is going through some obvious growing pains. What do they do then?

Things can change quickly. If they change that quickly, who knows?

I wish Dylark were centering his own line, just so we could see him go head to head with McDavid tonight. Sadly, I'm expecting McDavid to have a big game as I don't think Sheahan or Richards can handle his speed in the head to head matchup.

You were right. Richards looked lost out there a lot of the times. Sheahan was ok, tho.

Someone will probably make this its own thread, but dylark will be staying with the wings for the year.

"...and has a fun tendancy to throw pucks at the net whenever given the slightest chance."

It IS a lot more fun to watch Larkin do it than Samuelsson!
