As many have said we look slow for some reason. What the heck happened we were flying in the first few games couldn't believe how fast they looked. Now they are caught by any Joe blow backcheck. They dump n chase a lot too, so unlike them. Can't be said enough but when Datsyuk is back it will be a whole different team. We need some tough shot blocking crease clearing defense though. Smith Ericsson Quincey Kindl pack your bags.

And after 3 losses we weren't hungry?

I'm sure we were, but Calgary is a team with the pieces to get into the playoffs, and they were 1-5, at home (with some favorable referees...) and they got outstanding goaltending at crunch time. It's hard to beat that.

I sure hope that Blashil isn't the type of coach nor Z or Kronner are the type of leaders that say "Relax we've only played 7 games"

Upward trend guys, stagnation isn't going to get you wins. There is cause for concern and Blashill , Z and rest of gang know it too.

And we've lost 4 straight, 3 against bottom feeders.

I hope Blash doesn't think his job is secure, Babs had a little more room for error with his winning resume.

i dont so much think its blashill than it is are guys i think alot of them are overrated and just not as great as we figured them to be jimmy was great tonight proving once again its not goal tending d wasnt to bad considering but they are getting way to many chances to fly in to our zone when they pulled their goalie we had 4 guys standing around in one area not good we got to be ore aggressive in our defensive zone and try to cause them to make mistakes

Kronwall and Green are nowhere near the tough shot blocking crease clearing type. Green is q china doll like Helm.

Not to mention fatigue down the line.

Indeed, some of them looked out of gas late on...because we couldn't keep any control in their zone for sustained periods...Green on that first PP reminded us of what it was like to have a blue-liner who can hold the zone....

The doom-and-gloom in this space is really upsetting, especially given that it's coming from the people who, you would think, should be the most dedicated Detroit fans.

If you overlooked this Calgary team, that's on you. Nobody should have thought this would be an easy win, because they came out hungry. Playing down a defenseman, we got gassed and someone on their side made a play when it counted. It happens sometimes. Blashill isn't on the hot seat, this team isn't going to miss the playoffs, and the sky isn't falling.

If you aren't willing to lose, you can't really enjoy it when you win, and people on this board don't seem to appreciate that. I feel bad for them.

Because being upset about one loss means that 'you aren't willing to lose'... Besides, it wasn't just one unfortunate play (it was two pretty terrible periods) and it wasn't just one loss (it's 4 straight).

So, then, why do you find the loss so acceptable? Do you feel that the Flames are a superior hockey team to the Red Wings? If so, I disagree, but I can better relate to your complacency regarding the loss - it seems much more understandable. I, on the other hand, feel that the Flames are an inferior team when compared to Detroit and won that game because they wanted it more and tried harder.... and that is the TYPE of loss that I do not find acceptable. To each their own, though, I suppose.

Also, I think others are probably better sources of knowledge regarding what they respectively can or can't enjoy than you are.

I have a feeling that you didn't play hockey much as a kid. Hockey isn't a game where the better team wins. Hockey is a game where both teams generate chances, and sometimes those chances pan out for the better team, and sometimes they don't. It has nothing to do with who is a better team, and the type of FULL CONSISTENCY that you want doesn't exist.

We were one shot away from winning tonight. The other team made it. We didn't. I really feel bad for you.

I was going into this season thinking we had an edge on 3v3 OTS with Blash being the only one with some experience.

wings never seem to be good in ot if we make it to it we are gassed or just not into it

the ot blew we seemed to have no energy left god i would have loved to see us hold on to that lead jimmy deserved that win

Yes, he did. Jimmy was solid. That and the power play getting a couple are the positive takeaways. Unfortunately, they are outnumbered by the negative ones.

Calgary are actually pretty good but have been let down by individual errors and mostly abject goal-tending. Hiller makes three great saves and we hit the post twice in the first period, and then lose our best puck mover...that's the balance. If the flames can get decent goal-tendering they are a playoff calibre team, as their backline, when fully fit, has 5 guys who would upgrade our top 4.
