I like how noncommittal it is. Like, don't go *slamming* on the brakes, just maybe tap them and flash your brake lights so the chap behind you knows we're gonna slow down this joint a tad.

Ahhhhh f*** that's funny!

They were pretty passive. They made Bel Biv Devoe look badass.

If Babs had Larkin, don't even get me started. He'd definitely not split him and Z up.

Nah you're wrong on this one mate.

Babcock juggles the lines more than anyone in the league. And before him Bowman did the same thing.

There were countless times where Babcock would split the lines up to "get people going" as he would phrase it.

Countless times where I would get super pissed off because he would split the euro twins. I absolutely hated that about his coaching. Because a lot of times it was really unnecessary.

So if he can split the euro twins hundres of times in his 10 years here, you better bet he would do that with the Larkin/Z line too.

Basically, y'all are saying the Wings are fine. Blashill is doing good. Things look promising.

I'm sick of hearing how young we are.

I'm sick of hearing how old we are.

It doesn't make any goddam sense.

Most of the injured players weren't even on the team last year. And most of y'all hate Quincey, so who cares? Blashill needs to light a spark.

Fine, don't fire him. Just waste away the last years of Zetterberg and Datsyuk with the Red Wings Ausmus.

No, what people are saying is just have some patience as we are not even 10 games into the season. To fire a first time head coach who has had success at every level because he is 4-4-1 to start the year 9 games into an 82 games season would be a stupid and impulsive, and anyone who thinks differently is basing their opinion on emotion not logic. Nobody is happy with the start, but you need to give it time. Blashill could bomb, its definitely possible, he also could struggle for a month and then take the team to first place, the likely scenario is probably somewhere in the middle. Bottom line is you need a larger sample size to see what he can truly do.

Comparing him to Ausmus is a ridiculous comparison. Ausmus has coached the Tigers for 327 games, Blashill has coached the Wings for 9.

You're right that we have similar players on roster now and maybe even the injuries are not a good excuse. But all bs aside I don't know if you can really blame Blash yet. I mean have you seen the guys play?

It's the players not him. They sucked end of last season with Babs too. And they sucked when we had Datsyuk in the line up as well.

But what's interesting is these same group of players also were doing extremely well during the first half of the season last year. So they obviously have the talent.

I think we should wait till they build some more chemistry. Give it a few more games I'd say.

Then.

It irks me that this team is not ready to play. As for turnovers, Kronwall is the main culprit, along with his Klown partner, Ericcson. Mistakes will be made, no doubt. When I watch to see who was on defence when the goal was scored, invariably it was Kronwall and Ericcson. No physical play from them. Actually, there is no physical play from any of the defencemen. They can't move anybody away from the net.

Okay, I concede. The last two posters made some good points. Along with the person that talked about J. Coops start to his career.

I'm just furious with the effort. And I tend to throw that on the coaching staff, fair or not.

This is the same team as last year.

Older or younger or wiser or dumber, this team should not look this listless.

I'm going to my second game on Friday. Second Friday game of the season for me. Second game against a Canadian team. First being opening night. Let's make this the second W.

Sorry for starting this thread.

Though I am happy to report everyone is basically in agreement.

This is unacceptable.

If the Wings cared as much as the fans on this thread do...

The struggles out of the gate shouldn't be a surprise. This is still the same team that has had to win the last game of the year for three years now to even make the PO's. Now we have removed the best coach in hockey from the mix. The guy that focused on shot reduction and had a defense first focus. Add in we are missing our best forward-Datsyuk, had our best defenseman-Dekeyser, miss time, and Blashill/Holland are giving Kindl and Smith one last chance to prove themselves. BTW the same things are happening to the Griffins as well. Same team as last year yet they are also having issues with the change to a new coaching staff. The one advantage they have going is, they are in a stretch of playing 1 game over a 2 week period, so lots of time to practice.

Blashill isn't going to get fired-even if we miss the playoffs. It isn't going to happen. he has been groomed by Holland and Babcock to take over. They are not going to spend this much time on developing him to make a knee jerk reaction to 9 games, 40 games, or even 1 season.

This is a better team on paper than the past few seasons.

That's a fact.

Similar injuries in other seasons.

Babcock got more out of his players.

This is unacceptable.

We are wasting talent right now.

Make a move.

A big move.

Give Tony the reigns.

Make a splash.

Make people wake up.

Glad they didnt fire Bowman after his poor start.

This thread is utter and complete nonsense. I'm not saying I think Blashill is guaranteed to turn it around and be a great NHL coach. That remains to be seen, but that's the whole ******* point!!! Nine games doesn't mean s***! I had more tempered expectations than many because I believe the NHL is a far tougher test than anything he's faced before. I'm not convinced he's going to be a great NHL coach simply because he's been successful before. It certainly bodes well for him, though it offers no guarantee, especially at the NHL level.

But I'm not even remotely convinced he's going to be a bad NHL coach simply because it's a "possibility" or because they've had a rough start. That's absurd at this point in time.

We don't know anything yet. Nothing. Not a thing. We probably won't even know anything by the end of the season. This thread is pure silliness.

 You're comparing him to Ausmus after 9 GAMES?! Hey, Brad made the playoffs his first season on the job, so if Blashill makes the playoffs in his 1st season does he suck too? If we're still struggling after 20-25, then you have a legit beef.

Meh.

I might predict the same but thing is. We have a pretty good roster. There's no reason we shouldn't make the playoffs on paper.

We still have two of the better centers in the league. We have two forwards that have the ability to hit 30 goals (actually 3). We have tons of players who have the ability to score 20+ goals. Our prospect is one of the best this year. We have a tandem in our goaltenders - both of who could be starting goalies. We have some of the better grinders in Glendenning and Abby. Our PP is actually inherently very good even if they aren't doing as well as they did last year. Yet.

We lack on defense but haven't we for the last 3 years anyway?
