Miller going down to block a shot up two goals as time expires. Gotta love his effort.

Another minus tonight. He's on pace for 0 goals, 8 assists, and a -32 rating. But damn, he's irreplaceable. Such a phenominal penalty killer. Our penalty kill is probably 1st in the league. Let me check the stats...

For those that need a refresher, GDT stands for Game Day Thread, which is to talk about the game being played that day and that game only. If you want to discuss other posters, take it to PMs.

Also, let's not forget the "3 posts deleted from GDT and you're subject to suspension" rule. This is the last reminder.

Did I say he was irreplaceable? No, I was giving props for the effort.... Most guys in the league would have said screw it.

Finally a decent effort even though they let off at the end.

Another great game by mrazek. I just feel so much more confident when he is in net and I think the team feeds off that too. His ability to handle the puck once again added to the teams speed tonight because it allowed for a much quicker breakout. I hope blash sticks with mrazek for next game against Tampa.

I loved smith with kronwall I have been calling for that for a while. Playing with Kronner allows smith to jump up and use his speed and I just think both have always played well together.

All the other D were good tonight except kindl who was just his typical soft self. He needs to go when all our D are back.

The top line was beast once more... how awesome are Z and larkin? But more importantly Nyquist and tatar both not only scored tonight but played very confident all over the ice. Hopefully this keeps up.

Wings got to keep up with this effort and before we know it we will have pav and green back. Great win and much needed.

Agreed on all points. Certainly we can take away a lot more positives than negatives from this game. Plenty of good play all around to build from.

Although, I would have no problem with Blash (or Z) blasting them for letting up and getting sloppy at the end there.

Greetings Wing's fans,

I was certainly impressed to see the Wings pull out today with a win. Nothing is better than seeing the Wings put up five goals and allowing us fans to sit back and watch rather then be on the edge of our chairs. I even begun to listen closely to Daren Eliotts terrible commentary, which is something we have not been able to laugh at due to their horrible losses this season.

The Red Wing's showed a lot of fans tonight that we cannot judge them 10 games in. On the back end of a home and home series with Ottawa, they dug deep into their pockets and showed us that they could skate well. Usually, the Wing's skate slowly on the second day of a back to back game set, but tonight they really had nice bursts of speed. After the special teams began taking a lot of criticism and there was a lot of question on whether or not the Wings knew how to be physical, they came out and owned both creases. Anderson seemed to have guys in front of his net at all times, while Mrazek was able to see most of the shots that came his way.

Zetterberg and Larkin play with passion. That is an understatement, Zetterberg and Larkin want to win bad enough to put themselves in uncomfortable situations. This is the most impressive hockey I have seen from Z in a while, and Larkin has been a pleasant surprise. He has as much energy as a young child who never seems to run out of gas.

It was great to finally see the defensemen taking some risks. Brenden Smith was very active offensively, DeKeyser buried a nice goal, and Jonathan Erriccsson seemed to have some sort of offensive touch for once. It'd have been very rewarding for Smith to have scored on that breakaway, though...

Now, there were some problems that stuck out like a sore thumb today. The Red Wings struggle at making simple plays when they have pressure on them. Simple passes are missed and the puck does not get out of the offensive zone. The D Men miss the forwards and an icing is called. The power play breakout cant find any rhythm after one or two attempts, and then it is two minutes of neutral zone play. And, the Wings let their foot off the gas today and played lazily in the last ten minutes which resulted in the closer score.

Nevertheless, if youve read my article all the way through, I hoped you gained some insight.

Go Wings!

Though I agree that the team let up in general at the end, from watching the highlights I realized that both the 2 late goals against were largely Kindl's fault. A bad giveaway in front of the net and missed man coverage in front of the net for the second one. For some reason that makes me feel better about the team's effort. Maybe Blash just needs to scream at Kindl instead of the whole team.

Just play the safe shutdown game when it's 5-1. No need to make risky passes.

Dude.

This isn't an open blog site, this is a discussion forum, you shouldn't make new threads after each new game.

And this is essentially just your analysis of the game, why wouldn't you just put it in the gdt for the game, or the thread you made yesterday that's not seeing many comments. (other than talking about your text wall.)

As for your "article," you say they showed fans that they can't judge them after ten games, and the only proof of that is a single game.

It makes no sense.

And the defense has been taking risks all season long, we've given up mass amounts of odd man rushes this season. BrendAn smith is always taking risks, and they rarely ever turn out to be advantageous.

And ericcsons goal hit a senator in front of the goal.

One thing I never understood about Kindl and Smith and to a lesser extent E and Kronner in general is why they make those risky passes. Just unnecessary.

Lidstrom played it safe more often than not. Either that or he was so good that he made risky passes look safe.

WE'RE THE BEST TEAM EVER!

I mean it's not that much different than thy typical WE'RE THE WORST TEAM EVER! posts we see after each loss...

Maybe we should chalk up the early ups and downs to the fact that this is a young team with a new coach early in the season

The Wings looked like the team we saw last year. Good fore-check, especially good d-men initiative moving up the puck and themselves, scrambling things up for Ottawa. Judging from what I saw, they weren't expecting that, felt like they got a few uppercuts from those rushes.

Also the Senators looked rather spent last night which probably helped. Anyhow, a good sign from the team, hope we keep it up and get a few skilled bodies in asap.

And what a wrap-around from Larkin. Good stuff.

jeez zetterberg doesnt even get any praise on nhl.com for his 800 points 500 assist. guess hes just average

I think its just that these arent milestones that get him anywhere. 1000 pts or 500 goals usually gets you a ticket to the hhof, so those milestones are celebrated more.
