Not that anyone cares about actual facts, but Howard is out playing Mrazek. To date Jimmy has a 2.21 GAA and a .928 save %. Mrazek has a 2.67 GAA and a .921 save %. The GAA is nearly 1/2 a goal per game less which is a fairly large difference. Yes it is early but Jimmy is back in AS form. You have to go back to Jimmy's 09/10 season, 11/12 season and 12/13 season to find similiar numbers for Jimmy.

Mrazek is being paid 1 mil.

Howard is being paid 5.25 mil

Shouldnt Howard be 5 times better?

Worked on Saturday. Andersson was as good or better in that game than Jurco was vs Carolina. Not to open that can of worms.

I mean being objective about things tends to open a can a worms doesn't it.

You're right. Andersson was pretty decent on Saturday and it did work.

Whatever gets us a win.

No offense. But this might be one of your "not so smart" posts (trying to stay within forums rules here)

Your comparing the salary of restricted entry level 23 year old player, who signed only a year extension and will still be an RFA in 2016, to a previous potential unrestricted veteran goalie signed to a multi year contract. And somehow equating the salaries to skill level?

Its a valid post. Shouldnt we expect Howard to outllay Mrazek?

I'm not qualified to determine which one would "outlay" the other, and I certainly don't want to watch. This is a family forum. ;)

In all seriousness, the RFA vs UFA thing is a HUGE salary difference in any case.

Fat thumbs!

I'm just saying that Howard is being paid starter money. He should be performing like one, right?

Mrazek has had a few go in late which is kinda deflating his numbers (like last game when we were up 5-1 then it ended 5-3. But I think Howard's had a few go in late like that too so whatever. they are both playing well, that's all that matters.

Game Day Thread, not Goalie War Thread. :)

Didn't see this til after I posted. Sorry I guess. Are we allowed to post what we think about the lines in the GDT? Or should every post those in a designated 'lines thread'?

We managed to beat the Bolts pretty convincingly last time, but it'll probably be a much tighter game this time around. It was nice to see the Wings pull through a solid win against the Sens' last time, but the last minutes of the game kind of worried me, so hopefully we'll see more of the earlier parts from our boys in Red this evening. Here's to a great game, and a solid win for the good guys!

Red Wings 3 (Larkin, Tatar, Pulkkinen)

Lightning 2

:siren: Let's Go Red Wings!!! :siren:
