Abby was going to be a career Red Wing one way or another. Holland could have either done it with one contract and prevented other teams from making offers and potentially running up his cost on subsequent deals, or he could have done it with multiple 2-3 year deals while matching his cap hit more closely to his year to year value. Either way works fine for me.

Come on. You originally said Hollands success was due to others - I showed an example of him drafting well without (and better) than one you were giving credit to. Then you said 13 other teams also missed out on Larkin - You were obviously trying to say that it doesn't show an edge in drafting for Holland over Nill because it happens often or maybe that drafting is luck. That's not what I said at all. Holland gets credit.

To me, the "13 other teams" statement just means that other team's scouting staffs also didn't recognize the talent or that they also got really high end players (Ekblad, Reinhart, Draisaitl). I don't think that statement has much meaning or relevance within our discussion of who gets credit for Holland's success.

If he can continue to perform at this level ... great signing. But for some reason, once you lock up someone long term with lots of zero's behind it ... the security of the contract makes players lazy. Must be human nature. Hope this doesn't turn out to be Franzen v2.0.

I think he'll flirt around 23 like last year. He has to with his PP time and line mates and his ice time per game. He has 5 goals in 16 games on a team that can't score. That's no bad, his 5 goals are pretty key for a team like us. I expect our scoring to get better obviously or else we're not making the playoffs that's for sure... Knock on wood

I never watched the last game was he demoted? I think the last thing Blash should be doing is "sending messages" to key players right now a la Michelle Therrien. Who knows, with the role our 4th line plays it's hardly a demotion. In the end I want to see Abby do well and I want to get 50 dollars as well

I'm not sure that it's him sending a message more than it was just him trying anything to see if it'd work. If I recall he didn't stay in the 4th for long.

My wife and I named our first daughter Abby. Not after player, we just liked the name. After he signed I wanted to get her a number 8 jersey. I finally got around to it.
