Definitely a dive to me.

So, we have 2 divers so far. Ever since Nyquist got fined, I've noticed how many penalties seem to be called on the other team drawn by Nyquist. Maybe that's just the effect of me paying closer attention to it, but I'd like to see stats on the percentage of calls drawn by him.

I don't get it. Are you trying to say that Nyquist doesn't draw penalties anymore becuase he got caught for diving?

Sorry, maybe I said it in an unclear way. To me, it does seem to me that Nyquist draws a lot of penalties. He was caught for the dive of course, but I've noticed him do the chicken wing 'hold the stick so it looks like he's hooking me' thing a few times. Then there's been a bunch were he's gone down, but didn't look like a dive.

I was just hoping to see if anyone had numbers to show how many calls are with him involved.

Laaaaame. (Of pulk)

Can anyone find video of his warning dive? Just curious. Hopefully he stops it.. nyq has seemed to. And I haven't heard of any fined past their first or second fine. Maybe the system is actually working?

Also, do the incidents carry over year after year? I doubt it..?

I saw one on YouTube (can't get to it right now) that showed one from the game vs. Vancouver as the 1st dive. The Dallas one was much worse, imo.

Dang, I wonder if fans from other teams are going to start saying the Wings are divers the way we say it about means like Boston, Vancouver, and San Jose? Maybe they always have.

If they do, I'm just going to start saying that Babcock created that culture to get a competetive edge and in an attempt to get that one PP goal he needed in order to win a game 2-1. Babcock's gone now and it's taking some of the guys a little time to adjust to Blashill's more ethical style of play.

Yeah, that sounds good. ;)

I think that he's saying Nyquist draws a lot of penalties by diving and often not getting caught.

Or at least that's how I interpreted it.

Anyway, shame on Pulkkinen. I hate that s*** and I'm glad he got caught.

Nyquist learned this from the master himself, Zetterberg

Zetterberg dives a lot and doesn't get caught? I never noticed.

If you've noticed the amount of penalties hes drawn by handcuffing other player's sticks and falling down you arent paying attention

He doesn't get burned and he gets a PP for it so I'm all for it. It really is a skill

Nyquist does it frequently now as well, and its not hard to assume Z showed him the ropes

Meh I know what you're talking about. He's done it a few times in his career it's not what you're making it out to be. He's not "master" of it.

It's not like Dustin Brown, Corey Perry, Ryan Kesler level of diving.

If you're not selling a penalty as a hockey player then you're not doing it right. Tons for players do it. The annoying ones are those that make something out of nothing. Aka players diving like swans. That's what gets me.

I haven't seen all of the plays that have been fined for diving.. But of the ones I have seen, that always seems to be the case. The "warning dive" so to speak always seems to be weak where as the fined ones seem like they should've been the first warning.. Maybe it's just coincidence. Either way, it needs to stop.

According to war-on-ice, Nyquist has drawn 7 penalties this year. Pulks is 2nd with 5 (tied with Larkin). Probably not a coincidence.

Like I said with Nyquist last year, the fines are a good start, but I think more needs to be done. Diving is effective, and will continue as long is it stays that way.

Good chance for Blash to set a precedent here. Give Pulks a day off, tell him to knock that crap off.

I just want to know why more guys aren't fined. Who else has been fined this year by the league? We can't be the only ones.

Actually Ya. Pulks was the first one of the year. So obviously the league isn't make a priority of fining these guys.

Thanks for the numbers. Of course drawing penalties in itself isn't a bad thing. Some players forecheck hard, other players just have a tendency to piss off the other team. Then there's a few conspicuous guys that usually lead the league and had the reputation of diving (Kadri, Brown). It's great the league put in the shame fines and I think things are changing.
