New NHL all-star game format

I agree. Maybe they should try something like baseball has done and give whatever conference wins the all-star game home ice advantage in the final.. thoughts?

I've never liked that rule (despite living in a city where the hometown team hosted the last two WS). But you know what? Even though the rule makes no sense whatsoever, it makes the games more fun to watch.

Dude.

The all star game has become so boring lately.

And I don't see the winning team taking the money, so more than likely it will go to a charity.

None of this sounds like a bad idea at all.

If it doesn't work they can change it next season as quick as they did this season and nothing is harmed.

Or, so exciting you piss your pants AND your friends pants.

and then never talk to those friends again, because you just pissed on them.

But it'll be exciting.

All of that sounds good. That still doesn't change the fact that nothing they can do to the all star game will change the fact that it's boring and no one will watch. Sure some will tune in for the first 10 min to see the changes, but will tune our when the score reaches 20 goals in 5 min. Goals are fun when they are tough to get, 3 on 3 in the allstar game the goals will be going in like crazy. Edited by wings87

Maybe you should drink more alcohol, like drink every time a goal is scored.

that way you can piss on more friends.

Hahaha. Man, what crawled up your ass?

Hahaha.

The urge to pee on people?

For now I'll call it r Kelly disease.

Actually, I just really haven't cared for the all star game the last few years and I think changing it will be good. The 3on3 thing will at least make it somewhat exciting, even if there are thirty goals.

And I wasn't trying to attack your opinion, I just thought the imagery was really funny.

But honestly, if its still boring after ten minutes, I will continue doing something else.

So I don't even disagree with you.

But any reason to get sloppy drunk and watch hockey sounds alright to me.

Yea 20 minutes of 3 on 3, I'd need to bring 4 pairs of pants and I'd lose friends. No thanks!

I understand the need to have the most popular stars in the All-Star game, but with this 3-on-3 tournament, the Central is basically going to be the Blackhawks vs. Other divisions. Still, this is a great idea and good way to generate some interest for the All-Star game considering that it's been one of the most boring events to watch over the last 5+ years.

i think there was plenty of goals when it was 5 on 5. i will watch. i still enjoy the skills competition more than anything. they need to speed it up though. waiting between each challange is boring

Yeah the hardest shot competition and the fastest skater are the only 2 things worth tuning in.

as others have mentioned the waiting time between the challenges is way too high.

I would really like to see helm in the fastest skater competition, but he's not an all star so it will never happen.

They need to have the fastest skater comp open to the league so we know who's the fastest.

I need to know.

The competition was sketchy in recent years. Gaborik was in the ASG a few years ago, but he wasn't even given a chance to do "fastest skater" and possibly break Gartner's record.
